<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Seeking an Artist/Instructor of Modern Dance who possesses specialized training, experience or expertise in traditional modern dance curriculum, is mission driven, innovative, flexible and eager to work in a fast-paced middle school environment. The artist instructor must encourage, inspire and provide feedback on student's performance and development in a positive and constructive manner, while also encouraging decision making, problem solving and technical analysis.</p> <p>The dance curriculum includes introductory courses which cover dance composition, dance repertory, and introductory modern technique. The position features teaching hours on Monday through Thursday from 8:45 AM to 1:15 PM, plus a weekly staff meeting for a total of 20.5 hours per week and includes eligibility for benefit and retirement packages.</p> <p>Position begins at the start of the 2025-26 school year.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Develops engaging curriculum and daily lessons in their specific art form. </li><li>Implementation and assessment of lessons to meet the needs of all learners. </li><li>Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time. </li><li>Recording of daily attendance, preparation of grades and comments on interim and quarterly reports for all students, in addition to regular communication with parents, social workers, school counselors regarding student progress. </li><li>Collaborate with fellow artist instructors and non-arts academic subjects on various school projects and initiatives. </li><li>Actively participates in the school community which may include student concerts, competitions, productions, exhibitions, and recruitment activities, open houses, regular faculty meetings as well as professional development activities, and prepares documentation necessary to support school events, activities and curriculum development. </li><li>Assists with non-instructional duties as needed (i.e., study halls etc.). </li></ul> <p>Overall Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Must have extensive experience and/or schooling in Modern Dance. Additional experience with specific techniques, especially Graham, Limón, or Horton, as well as Ballet training is considered a plus. </li><li>Knowledge of modern dance curriculum and the concepts therein. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff. </li><li>Ability to organize and maintain accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. </li><li>Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed. </li><li>Experience working with middle and/or high school-aged students. </li></ul> <p>To access the job description and salary range please click https://www.crec.org/careers/jobs.php</p> <p>JOB ID 13372 @ CREC: External Job Opportunities | Careers | Hartford, Connecticut</p>
