BS in Accounting required.</p> <p>This is a hybrid position located in either New York City or Stamford, Connecticut.</p> <p>Job Description -</p> <p>The Junior Accountant is responsible for the process administration, accounting entries, reconciliations, reporting, analysis, and documentation of assigned job areas within the accounting and financial reporting function. This individual improves the effectiveness of the accounting reporting team by making adjustments, and/or enhancements to current accounting and reporting processes. The function of the job is responsible for the operations and controls surrounding accounting, and financial reporting of the institution.</p> <ul> <li>This function's responsibilities demonstrate expertise by being able to articulate transactions, recording accounting entries, managing the general ledger and reconciliations, and interpreting and complying with technical accounting matters and financial reporting disclosure requirements and deadlines. </li><li>Through the Controllership function, stakeholders receive relevant insight and commentary on transaction-level and financial results for analysis and decision making. </li><li>This opportunity will support Head office reporting, expense reporting, product analysis and ad hoc projects. </li><li>Some of the requirements: Head office reporting, daily P&L reporting, researching variances, working with the business to implement controls, evaluating impacts of transactions, balance sheet substantiation and work closely with various support groups. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions / Responsibility Statements -</p> <ul> <li>Is a diligent worker who can work both as a team member but also strongly as an individual </li><li>Is a fast learner and eager to learn new tasks and add value to the team </li><li>Recommends best practices in accounting policies and processes, to the best of their knowledge </li><li>Ensures appropriate documentation is maintained for various processes including daily and month end procedures </li><li>Adheres to all internal and external controls in place and helps with various internal and external audit and regulator requests </li></ul> <p>Qualifications -</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>Education -</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree; Accounting with the goal of being a CPA </li><li>Master's Degree ; Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems or a equivalent field with goal of being a CPA </li></ul> <p>Work Experience -</p> <ul> <li>1-4 Years, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar field within the Banking or Financial Services Industry </li></ul> <p>Skills and Abilities -</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures, including US GAAP/IFRS and regulatory reporting standards. </li><li>Proficient skills in MS Office, MS Excel, MS Outlook. </li><li>Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines. </li><li>Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business environment </li><li>Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances. </li><li>Ability to influence others with positive attitude </li><li>Ability to interact with all levels of employees, including senior level management </li><li>Ability to leverage technology to improve and automate business tasks. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Strong attention to details and can analyze information quickly. </li><li>Forward thinker with ability to pick up tasks quickly </li></ul> <p>Licenses/Certification -</p> <p>CPA (Certified Public Accountant) obtained or planned. BS in Accounting required.</p> <p>What Else You Need To Know:</p> <p>The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week.
