Visit our website at NYC.GOV/DCAS to learn more about the work we do.</p> <p>The Office of Citywide Procurement (OCP) develops, awards, and administers approximately 1,100 requirement contracts for goods and services on behalf of all City agencies, departments, boards, and authorities, leveraging the City's buying power and maximizing efficiencies by reducing duplicative work. Procures, on average, nearly $1.5 billion in goods and services for City agencies annually. Quality Assurance (QA) comprises five Quality Assurance units: Food, Fuel, Automotive, Health & Safety, and Miscellaneous and one Technical Services Unit within OCP. Quality Assurance inspects and conducts quality assurance determinations against purchase orders and contract specifications involving commodities purchased through or in cooperation with OCP. These determinations intend to ascertain and ensure that the City receives the quality level and value of the goods contracted.</p> <p>DCAS seeks a Deputy Director of Quality Assurance who will oversee the Fuel and Automotive Services inspection units, improve quality control processes, and ensure regulatory and operational standards are met. This position involves managing personnel, implementing quality improvement initiatives, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders whose primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee the Automotive and Fuel inspection units. </li><li>Develop and implement quality assurance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with inspection follow-up protocols. </li><li>Establish and maintain systems to track inspection status and quality control turnover. </li><li>Evaluate inspector and technician performance using data-driven methods; plan and deliver training as needed. </li><li>Design and implement a cross-training program for employees. </li><li>Lead quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with interdepartmental teams to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. </li><li>Coordinate with third-party laboratories for sample submission, testing, and data analysis (including preliminary and final product samples). </li><li>Review product requirements and functional specifications to ensure quality standards. </li><li>Prepare quality control reports, statistical process control metrics, and manage non-conformity material discrepancy reports; recommend continuous improvement actions. </li><li>Investigate and document customer complaints related to product performance, reliability, and specifications. </li><li>Out of town travel periodically to site locations across the five boroughs and out of state. </li><li>Participate in agency and citywide emergency response efforts as required. </li><li>Collaborate with quality assurance supervisors to develop and document succession planning. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>To Apply:</p> <p>Please go to www.nyc.gov/jobs or www.nyc.gov/ess for current NYC employees and search for Job ID #759913.</p> <p>NO PHONE CALLS, FAXES OR PERSONAL INQUIRIES PERMITTED.</p> <p>NOTE: ONLY THOSE CANDIDATES UNDER CONSIDERATION WILL BE CONTACTED.</p> <p>ASSISTANT MECHANICAL ENGINEER - 20410</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ol> <li> <p>A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or mechatronics and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in mechanical engineering work; or</p> </li><li> <p>A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in mechanical engineering technology and three years of full-time satisfactory experience in mechanical engineering work; or</p> </li><li> <p>A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a master's degree from an accredited college in mechanical engineering or mechatronics.</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Skills</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). - Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and organizational needs. - Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills. - Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. - Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a heavy workload under tight deadlines. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. - Commitment to professional integrity, flexibility, and ethical conduct. - Proven ability to build effective working relationships with diverse teams and stakeholders. - Experience reviewing technical contract specifications and compliance requirements. - Familiarity with ASTM standards and industry testing protocols. - Prior experience reviewing laboratory reports and data analysis. </li></ul> <p>55a Program</p> <p>This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a Program.
