<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Data Processing/Administrative Assistant</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>4/23/2026</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Annex Building</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Town of Vernon</p> <p>Department: Data Processing</p> <p>Job Title: Administrative Assistant</p> <p>Wage Range: $28.45 - $32.98 (Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience)</p> <p>Hours: 35/week 4 day work week</p> <p>Monday 8:00am-4:00pm, Tuesday 8:00am-7:00pm, Wednesday 8:00am-5:00pm, Thursday 8:00am-4:30pm</p> <p>Position Definition: Provides variety of complex administrative support to the Director of Data Processing and IT department staff.</p> <p>Supervision Received: Works under the direction of the Data Processing Director or his/her assignee.</p> <p>Supervision Exercised: May supervise other employees, projects, interns.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions: Tracks various town-wide IT initiatives and assists in project management process; maintains attendance records for department; tracks Town-wide inventory of hardware/software; serves as primary contact for vendors; assists in preparation of department budget and maintenance of same; manages and maintains Town-wide handheld mobile devices; maintains departmental requisitions, invoices, purchase orders and shipping for computer technology; answers telephones and transfer to appropriate staff member; assists with maintenance of the vendor contracts and purchasing; meet and greet clients and visitors, perform general clerical duties as needed; regular & punctual attendance.</p> <p>Other Job Functions: Performs related work as required.</p> <p>Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to remember multiple assignments given over long periods of time. Must be able to perform tasks requiring independent knowledge in addition to procedures or instructions provided. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: General knowledge of IT systems is required. Knowledge of MS OFFICE, including advanced MS Excel and PC's; must be knowledgeable in various mobile devices; basic knowledge of accounting terminology and ability to maintain records, inventory and billing systems; ability to understand the internal organization, responsibilities and technology needs of each Town Department; ability to foster relationships and deal effectively with officials, business owners, outside agencies, and employees; ability to prepare concise written reports; critical thinking skills with the ability to draw conclusions or approaches to problems to implement solutions; excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Must be computer proficient with the ability to learn software programs specific to the job. A Police background check will be required.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Associates Degree in business or computer-related field and two years of experience in office administration OR any equivalent combination of education, certifications and/or experience.</p> <p>This job description is not intended to be a complete statement of all duties, functions and responsibilities which comprise this position.
