<p>Hiring Department</p> <p>MizzouRec Services and Facilities is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides quality leisure experiences to all members of the campus community, primarily Mizzou students. Through our facilities and programs, we strive to bring our members and guests an environment that inspires and promotes a healthy, active lifestyle. MizzouRec enhances the student experience by creating a sense of "third place" and belonging with its vast services, facilities, and programming - in addition to its unique connection to campus history and traditions.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>Sports & Competition Leads must be personable, outgoing, and exhibit exemplary customer service skills. They must have the ability to work non-traditional hours such as late nights, early mornings, and weekends. This position requires good decision-making skills and the ability to work with little supervision during events. Individuals must be assertively friendly, creative, and have an extensive working knowledge of all MizzouRec facilities and services. They must take pride in the quality of their work, demonstrate initiative, and be attentive to details.</p> <p>This position requires exceptional leadership skills and prior experience in facility supervision or event management. Skills in risk management and facility security are also required. This individual must be capable of maintaining responsibility for on-site supervision of events as prescribed by the Sports & Competition professional staff, assist in the training, supervision, and evaluation of Intramural Officials and Sports & Competition Frontlines. This individual must remain Adult CPR/AED/First Aid certified during course of position.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Maintain extensive knowledge of sport rules and properly enforce all rules and policies. </li><li>Maintain a strong knowledge of all facilities, programs, services, policies, and procedures. Professionally respond to and engage with MizzouRec members and guests. </li><li>Participate in decision-making in the best interest of MizzouRec and Mizzou Intramural Sports. </li><li>Maintain equipment and field in good working condition daily. Report any maintenance issues, and restock supplies as needed. </li><li>Ensure teams are checked in with proper identification, waivers, equipment check-out, etc. </li><li>Provide support, supervision, training, and evaluate Intramural Sports Officials and Sports & Competition Frontlines. </li><li>Correctly complete required forms (Shift Report, Accident Report, Ejection Report, etc.). </li><li>Supervise all Sports & Competition events, including Intramural Sports leagues and tournaments, as well as Club Sports events. </li><li>Attend and assist the Intramural Sports Coordinator with captains' meetings and Intramural Sports Officials clinics. </li><li>Attend all staff meetings and trainings. </li><li>Adhere to all Team Mizzou guidelines and non-negotiables. </li><li>Serve as the main point person for all logistics of Club Sports games/tournaments. </li><li>Ensure prescribed event set-up, responsibilities, and expectations are communicated and executed. </li><li>Provide security by monitoring checkpoints designated by Club Sports Coordinator or Sports & Competition Coordinator during the event to ensure all participants are confined to proper spaces. </li><li>Respond promptly and appropriately to medical emergencies and participant incidents for events, or as needed within MizzouRec and all Club Sport activities. </li><li>Monitor and ensure the safety of all user groups utilizing MizzouRec facilities as well as MizzouRec members throughout the Club Sports event or practice. </li><li>Answer any questions and disseminate MizzouRec or Club Sport information as appropriate. </li></ul> <p>Anticipated Hiring Range</p> <p>$15.50 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis.</p> <p>Shift</p> <p>Number of hours per week: 10-15 per week. Shifts are 5:15 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.</p> <p>This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>To be eligible for a student title, an individual must be enrolled at the University of Missouri. Enrollment in the summer session is not required if the student was enrolled in the Spring semester and is pre-enrolled for the Fall semester. Selection is contingent upon results of a review with the Office of Institutional Equity, Office of Student Accountability & Support, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, previous MU appointment history, and reference checks.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Working knowledge of IMLeagues </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Served with Sports & Competition for 3+ semesters </li></ul> <p>Application Materials</p> <p>Complete application, and upload the following: résumé, class schedule, cover letter, and 3 or more references which must include at least 1 MU supervisor (if applicable). The individual demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior, acts responsibly with the interests of the larger community in mind and is able to learn from their mistakes. </li><li>Career Management: Identify and articulate one's skills, strengths, knowledge and experiences relevant to the position desired and career goals, and identify areas necessary for professional growth.
