<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The College for Living Coordinator is responsible for creating effective and high-quality educational programs that serve students with developmental disabilities.</p> <p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Recruit for potential students by connecting with local schools </li><li>Conduct intake meetings for potential students in collaboration with the Director, College for Living </li><li>Plan and oversee the daily schedule for staff and students within College for Living Department </li><li>Perform research for program coursework </li><li>Prepare and design curriculum for courses </li><li>Train staff members to effectively teach the curriculum </li><li>Teach coursework within the Foundation's Group Day habilitation program </li><li>Observe and monitor staff members in the classroom </li><li>Conduct and host Life plan meetings with outside agencies for students (two per year, 30 students) </li><li>Maintain up-to-date documentation and accurate records for yearly OPWDD Bureau of Program Certification review </li><li>Write and/or review approximately 60-day habilitation plans per year </li><li>Plan student activities and outings as they relate to individual goals </li><li>Review and modify student day habilitation goals quarterly </li><li>Communicate daily with transportation vendor, families, Medicaid Service providers, schools </li><li>Attend trainings and workshops with Director through OPWDD for waiver updates, supported employment, and agency specific information </li><li>Establish and implement new programming i.e. supported employment for students </li><li>Integrate programming and staff training to reflect emergent state and federal mandates </li><li>Provide supervision and regulate student behavioral issues as necessary </li><li>Monitor student retention, attendance and health concerns </li><li>Assist in updating compliance program for Group Day Habilitation policies as required by OPWDD. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Teaching, Psychology or related field from an accredited college, university of foreign equivalency. </li><li>At least one year working with adults with Intellectual Disabilities. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of compliance planning is preferred. </li><li>Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Superior organizational aptitude </li><li>Strong oral and written communication skills </li><li>Excellent interpersonal recruitment skills </li><li>Ability to make sound decisions; exhibit professional responses under pressure </li><li>Ability to exercise good judgment and possess sensitivity to and understanding of the needs and behaviors of individuals with developmental disabilities </li><li>Ability to develop new and innovative ways of improving instruction and training to students with intellectual disabilities </li><li>Ability to oversee and motivate staff </li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities with overlapping deadlines </li><li>Demonstrated skill and ability with technology, including software applications </li><li>Ability to recognize the needs of students/staff and design effective strategies to accommodate and improve outcomes </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Salary range is: $44,000-50,000, commensurate with credentials and relevant experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Onondaga Community College offers a generous and competitive benefits package including:</p> </li><li> <p>New York State Local Retirement System (pension) or an Optional Retirement Plan (401(a).</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent health, dental, and vision insurance plans (qualifying domestic partner included).</p> </li><li> <p>Onondaga Community College participates in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program for eligible borrowers.</p> </li></ul> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <ul> <li>To be considered, please submit a resume and cover letter at time of application. </li><li>The three (3) references listed on the application must be professional references, one of which must be a current or former supervisor.
