Research Grant or Time-limited positions may be eligible for all, some, or no benefits, based on the grant or project funding.</p> <p>Position Description</p> <p>Advertised Job Summary</p> <p>Under general supervision, the Scholar Programs Coordinator serves as the primary contact and program lead for approximately 80 McNair Scholars within National Fellowships and Scholar Programs, a unit of the top-ranked South Carolina Honors College (SCHC). The coordinator also supports a comprehensive four-year experience for an additional 120 Top Scholars-recipients of the university's five most prestigious merit-based scholarships. Responsibilities include planning and executing events and programs-occasionally during evenings and on weekends-such as the annual McNair Scholar domestic travel experience; managing enrichment funds for all McNair Scholars; advising student leadership groups, like Scholars United and other assigned groups; and providing holistic advising through annual campaigns. The coordinator also collaborates with the director of scholar programs to develop and implement an annual assessment plan. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to support the evolving needs of USC's most talented students and to advance the broader mission of the university. Manages various student activities, events, and administrative duties for McNair Scholars. Plans, leads and supports the annual McNair Scholar travel experience. Advises McNair Scholars on appropriate use of enrichment funds and maintains administrative records for compliance and reporting purposes.</p> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 35 Job Duty</p> <p>Advisement</p> <p>Provides holistic advising to approximately 200 scholars throughout the year. Advises scholars during class-specific programs such as First-Year Scholar chats, Sophomore Strategy, Junior Gameplan, and Senior-Send Off. Updates databases with notes from advising appointments. Advises student groups, such as Scholars United and other assigned groups. Connects scholars to appropriate campus offices and makes referrals when needed. Encourages all scholars to consider applying for national fellowships.</p> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25 Job Duty</p> <p>Event Coordination</p> <p>Plans and/or participates in all scholar program activities that provide an enhanced university experience for the Top Scholar population, including: Stamps, McNair, Carolina, 1801 and Horseshoe Scholars that may occur after hours and on weekends. Manages and advises student groups as assigned, such as Scholars United.</p> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25 Job Duty</p> <p>Assessment</p> <p>Collaborates with the director of scholar programs to create an annual assessment plan. Compiles, analyzes, and reports information as part of assigned SCHC and NFSP annual plan/blueprint processes, as well as for any specific McNair Scholar reports to the McNair Foundation or Central/Honors development.
