<p>Cable Plant Drafter</p> <p>Job Category: Information Technology</p> <p>Time Type: Full time</p> <p>Minimum Clearance Required to Start: TS/SCI with Polygraph</p> <p>Employee Type: Regular</p> <p>Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10%</p> <p>Type of Travel: Local</p> <p>Anticipated Posting End: There is not an anticipated end date for this posting since applications are needed on an ongoing basis.</p> <p>The Opportunity: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cable Plant Drafter to create and maintain accurate drawings and documentation for our telecommunications infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the design and installation of cable plant systems.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Create detailed drawings of cable plant layouts, including fiber optic and copper networks </li><li>Develop and maintain accurate as-built documentation for existing cable plant infrastructure </li><li>Prepare schematic diagrams, floor plans, and site layouts for cable installations </li><li>Use CAD software to produce high-quality technical drawings and blueprints (is this accurate) </li><li>Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field technicians to gather and interpret technical information </li><li>Ensure compliance with industry and customer standards, local codes, and specifications </li><li>Perform site surveys to collect data for new designs or updates to existing infrastructure </li><li>Maintain an organized database of drawings, specifications, and related documents </li><li>Assist in the creation of bill of materials (BOM) for cable plant projects </li><li>Support the development of project proposals and cost estimates </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience </li><li>5+ years of related work experience </li><li>TS/SCI with CI Poly required </li><li>Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software (delete if above red note is a no) </li><li>Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure and cabling systems </li><li>Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for cable plant design </li><li>Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drawing production </li><li>Good communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and blueprints </li><li>Basic understanding of GIS concepts and applications </li></ul> <p>Desired:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with specialized telecom design software (e.g., Bentley, OSPInsight) </li><li>Familiarity with fiber optic network design principles </li><li>Knowledge of outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) cabling systems </li><li>Experience with 3D modeling and BIM (Building Information Modeling) </li><li>Understanding of local and national building codes related to telecommunications </li></ul> <p>This position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately.
