<p>Job Description:</p> <p>SPECIAL EDUCATION COACH</p> <p>DESCRIPTION</p> <p>The full-time special education coach will serve as a transformational leader supporting the development and implementation of IEPs in the district. As a member of the coaching team, this coach will support the professional growth of all teachers and increase the district's capacity to meet the needs of all learners. The Special Education Coach will provide job-embedded professional development and assist teachers in the collection and analysis of student data related to their IEP identified needs. The coach must have a thorough knowledge of the special education process and law, and on current best practices in the area of special education.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Member of and participation in the Director of Student Services' Department Leadership Team </li><li>Provide grade-based instructional support through professional development workshops, shared teaching opportunities, classroom modeling, and observations of lessons with reflective teacher consultation </li><li>Assist teachers in the creation of classroom environments that support the inclusion model for students with IEPS. </li><li>Support teachers and administrators with regard to planning for instruction based on student data and ongoing progress monitoring. </li><li>Support new special education staff with learning their roles and responsibilities according to district practices (i.e. IEP quality, CTSEDS, etc.) </li><li>Coach teachers on the effective use of student work and assessment data to inform instructional planning during common planning times. </li><li>Provide support on Scientific research-based interventions (SRBI) conversations for students not responding to current interventions. </li><li>Participate in the development and support of the implementation of the district and school improvement plans </li><li>Work with central office staff, building administrators, and teachers to select, obtain, implement, and manage appropriate resources and materials </li><li>Attend professional development on content, instructional pedagogy, and the coaching role </li><li>Attend professional development on technology integration and the expanded use of technology in content area instruction, including assistive technology for students requiring accommodations. </li><li>Meet weekly with building administrators to review student performance data, develop strategies to address the needs of learners, and receive input on priorities </li><li>Meet regularly with the Superintendent/Director of Student Services or designee to review coaching updates, share input from building administrators, and develop plans </li><li>Engage in self-reflection activities and performance observations for the purpose of professional growth and goal-setting </li><li>Perform other duties related to content area instructional improvement and student learning, as assigned by the Director of Student Services </li><li>Attendance at evening events related to curriculum nights, parent conferences, etc. </li><li>Review IEPs before finalization for compliance and quality </li><li>Support administration with planning and implementation of ESY programming </li><li>Support training and implementation of staff with the use of de-escalation, restraint, and seclusion programming determined by the district. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Professional educator certification with 165 preferred </li><li>Knowledge and experience implementing research based Structured Literacy approaches (i.e. Orton-Gillingham, Speech to Print, etc.) is a plus </li><li>Five years of successful teaching experience </li><li>Knowledge of Common Core Curriculum Standards and frameworks </li><li>Knowledge of the Connecticut Common Core of Teaching </li><li>Knowledge of research-based interventions, assessments, and instructional strategies including the Science of Reading </li><li>Experience writing standards-based lesson plans with embedded formative assessments </li><li>Experience developing strategies to meet the goals articulated in students' IEPs </li></ul> <p>FOR A COMPLETE JOB DESCRIPTION, PLEASE SEE APPLITRACKS.</p> <p>REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Must pass federal and local background checks; </li><li>Must have reliable transportation; </li><li>Must complete all pre-employment requirements before the start date; </li><li>Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. </li></ul> <p>HOURS/WAGE</p> <ul> <li>Per WEA Contract </li><li>Pay Range - $44,147.00 - $97,776.00 </li></ul> <p>APPLICATION PROCEDURE</p> <ul> <li>Apply online via our website at www.winchesterschools.org using Applitrack.
