This role requires a reliable, detail-oriented individual with strong time management skills, discretion, and a commitment to excellent customer service.</p> <p>TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Pick up and deliver packages, documents, and materials to designated locations in a timely and secure manner. </li><li>Transport items to and from Board of Education members, City Hall, the U.S. Post Office, district schools, and other locations as directed. </li><li>Verify delivery details, obtain signatures, and maintain accurate delivery records. </li><li>Prepare all outgoing district correspondence for mailing, including weighing materials, applying correct postage, and adhering to procedures for certified, return-receipt, and overnight mail. </li><li>Track and report district-wide postal expenditures monthly to the Business Office. </li><li>Handle all materials with care to prevent damage during transport. </li><li>Maintain a clean, safe, and organized vehicle; conduct routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs. </li><li>Follow assigned routes and schedules, adapting to changes as necessary. </li><li>Communicate promptly with the supervisor regarding delivery status or issues. </li><li>Ensure compliance with district policies, traffic laws, and safety regulations. </li><li>Handle confidential and sensitive materials with discretion. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Operations or designee. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required. </li><li>Valid Connecticut driver's license with a clean driving record. </li><li>Ability to be bonded. </li><li>Prior experience as a courier, delivery driver, or in a similar role preferred. </li><li>Professional, respectful, and courteous demeanor, especially when interacting with students and staff. </li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills. </li><li>Ability to lift and carry packages up to 50 lbs. </li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. </li><li>Familiarity with GPS systems and efficient route planning. </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <ul> <li>Primarily field-based, with frequent driving. </li><li>May involve exposure to various weather conditions. </li><li>Occasional lifting and carrying of materials. </li><li>A flexible schedule may be required, including evenings, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. </li><li>Ability to bend, stoop, lift, and carry items as necessary for deliveries. </li></ul> <p>SALARY: $21.00 per hour</p> <p>New London Public School District is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.</p> <p>Candidates from diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply.</p>
