Develops engineering studies, plans, specifications, and detailed scopes of work. Develops protection system settings, engineering calculations and design documents associated with the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Company's transmission and distribution, facilities/systems. Provide guidance, supervision and engineering peer reviews for other engineers in the department. Supports the construction and commissioning of protection systems deployed on company transmission and distribution facilities. Develops new engineering methods or tools to improve efficiency accuracy and consistency.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Develop Protection system schematic designs </li><li>Conduct Short circuit and symmetrical component analysis </li><li>Perform protection system coordination studies localized and wide area </li><li>Develop Relay settings and protection system automation logic </li><li>Maintain departmental databases and system models </li><li>Conduct arc flash analysis </li><li>Manage Integration with SCADA systems </li><li>Develop complex electrical engineering studies, plans, detailed scopes of work and protection system criteria. </li><li>Provide peer review as part of the defined QA/QC process for internal and external engineering design, settings and studies. </li><li>Guide and direct level I, II and III engineers, technicians and drafters. </li><li>Act as a lead/expert within the company and provide guidance to management and other engineering groups on complex engineering problems. </li><li>Deliver on commitments to accomplish assigned work. </li><li>Analyze and design engineering methods. </li><li>Comply with NERC, FERC and WECC regulations </li><li>Recommend alternative engineering solutions to management to meet business needs. </li><li>Supervise focused engineering teams to deliver special projects, internal initiatives and run departmental processes. </li><li>Occasional travel for project work and training </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology from an ABET-accredited university </li><li>A minimum of six years' experience in industrial power systems or electric utility power systems. </li><li>Advanced technical degree or professional engineer (PE) license preferred. </li><li>Knowledge and application of engineering principles in the area of substations design, power system protection and/or power system analysis </li><li>Project management and leadership skills including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments. </li><li>Understanding of company's business, and relevant policies, procedures, and practices. </li><li>Working knowledge of applicable FERC, NERC and WECC standards and the National Electric Codes. </li><li>Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations. </li><li>Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations. </li><li>Proficient with the use of personal computers including automated tools. </li></ul> <p>Preferences</p> <ul> <li>Professional Engineering License (PE) </li><li>Power systems focused Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or Masters of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (MEngEE) </li><li>Proficiency in substation design </li><li>Proficiency in power system protection design and settings </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Req Id: 113558</p> <p>Company Code: Pacificorp</p> <p>Primary Location: SALT LAKE CITY</p> <p>Department: Power Delivery</p> <p>Schedule: Days</p> <p>Personnel Subarea: Exempt</p> <p>Hiring Range: $ 111,500-$ 144,300</p> <p>This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 15.00% of salary.</p> <p>Benefits: Health care, retirement, paid time off, tuition assistance, paid short-term and long-term disability, paid bereavement leave.
