<p>Hiring for an Insurance Collector in Wallingford!</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The Insurance Collector is tasked with monitoring accounts to ensure timely payment and collection. This role requires close collaboration with the CO Billing team and the Collections Supervisor. The position involves managing accounts receivable through system modules and reports, resubmitting appeals, and following up on unpaid or incorrectly processed claims. Additionally, it requires resolving claim kick-out edits on the dashboard, answering insurance-specific inquiries, and aiding in process improvements for better claims resolution.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Monitor and resolve claim kick-out edits on the dashboard. </li><li>Manage accounts receivable through system modules and reports. </li><li>Resubmit appeals and follow up on unpaid or incorrectly processed claims. </li><li>Answer inbound calls for insurance-specific inquiries. </li><li>Collect on insurance carrier accounts. </li><li>Assist in process improvements to enhance claims resolution. </li><li>Ensure the quality and integrity of work on assigned tasks. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>1-2 years of experience in medical billing. </li><li>Experience navigating insurance websites such as Availity and reading EOBs. </li><li>Knowledge of claims denials and appeals processes. </li><li>Proficiency in medical billing, customer service, and payment posting. </li><li>Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT codes. </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Experience in accounts receivable, Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance verification. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or higher preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of medical terminology and CPT/modifiers and ICD-9/ICD-10 codes/modifiers. </li><li>Experience in EMR and Microsoft Office Suite preferred. </li><li>Existing medical collections experience in physical therapy, DME, and workers' comp claims is a plus. </li><li>Customer service-oriented with experience in a high-volume billing department. </li><li>Nice to have experience in collection calls, revenue cycle, patient accounts, and orthopedic claims. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The work environment is focused on efficiency, with a 'go to work, get the job done, and go home' ethos.
