Over the past 224 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.</p> <p>The New York Post is looking for a City Hall Reporter (M-F) to keep a close eye on the mayor's o?ce, City Council, and the political forces shaping the city.</p> <p>This role isn't for the faint of heart-we need a reporter who can hustle for scoops, ask the tough questions, and break exclusive stories that keep New Yorkers informed. Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Cover the mayor's o?ce, City Council, and key city agencies and departments -- including the Department of Education and the MTA -- with a sharp, critical eye. </li><li>Regularly work from City Hall and cultivate a deep network of government sources. </li><li>Break exclusive stories that hold city leaders accountable and set the news agenda. </li><li>Translate complex policy, budgets, and government decisions into compelling, clear stories. </li><li>File breaking news quickly, accurately, and concisely under tight deadlines. </li><li>Leverage SEO and social media best practices to expand audience reach. </li><li>Collaborate with editors and other reporters on investigative projects and enterprise stories. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>At least 1 year of experience reporting on local politics or government. </li><li>Understanding of New York City Hall, the mayor's o?ce, and city politics. </li><li>The skills to develop deep and reliable sources in city government. </li><li>A nose for news, with the drive to break exclusive stories. </li><li>Strong writing skills-able to turn dry government reports into must-read journalism. </li><li>Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom. </li><li>Experience with WordPress and knowledge of SEO and social media best practices. </li><li>Willingness to work ?exible hours, including early mornings and occasional weekends. </li></ul> <p>Note: This role requires on-site reporting from New York City Hall four days a week.</p> <p>At The New York Post we recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.
