If you live close to South Knoxville and have your lifeguard certification, we need you! If you are looking for afternoon hours M-F between 2:30pm and 6pm, we have the perfect opportunity! And, we will more flexibility with our summer hours.</p> <p>PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Lifeguard is responsible for implementing and supervising activities within the pool area, shower area, and locker room following all licensing requirements.</p> <p>KEY ROLES (Job Responsibilities):</p> <p>Program Development and Implementation</p> <ul> <li>Monitor and evaluate programs to ensure safety of members. Safety is the primary concern of the aquatics development worker </li><li>Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for members and visitors </li><li>Utilize programs that are fun and engaging to the members in aquatics area and allow all members to participate regardless of skill level </li><li>Maintain a ratio of staff to members at 1:10 </li><li>Keep track of all members' pool usage utilizing Visions tracking system </li></ul> <p>Program Supervision</p> <ul> <li>Provide active supervision continually interacting with all members providing motivation and encouragement </li><li>Always set example of appropriate dress and monitor members swim attire helping them understand what is appropriate in the aquatics area </li><li>Observe and test all club members before they participate in water activities. Know and understand the skill level of each member in your group </li><li>Ensure that members understand and follow proper personal hygiene practices before and/or after swimming </li><li>Discipline members fairly, consistently, and only according to established policies and procedures </li><li>Ensure a productive work environment by participating in staff meetings </li></ul> <p>Prepare Youth for Success</p> <ul> <li>Know the Youth Development Strategy- Instill in youth feelings of Belonging, Usefulness, Influence and Competence (BUIC). </li><li>Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes: </li><li>promote and stimulate program participation; </li><li>create opportunities for development of strengths and competencies </li><li>provide guidance and role modeling to members. </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>May participate in special programs and/or events </li><li>May be required to be a monitor on the bus </li><li>Complete trainings as required by licensing agency </li><li>May be required to help out in multiple areas as needed </li><li>Maintain and clean the pool and surrounding area </li><li>Ensure pool has proper chemical levels in water </li><li>Keep all swimwear provided by club clean and laundered </li><li>Clean any other areas and bathrooms as needed at the end of day </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or GED </li><li>Must be Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid Certified </li><li>Experience working with children </li><li>Knowledge of youth development </li><li>Knowledge of Department of Education/ DHS Licensing Requirements </li><li>Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems </li><li>Ability to deal with the general public </li><li>Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth </li><li>Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment </li><li>Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations </li><li>Must be flexible and be able to work well with other team members </li><li>Ability to multitask </li><li>Problem solving skills </li></ul>
