<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Certified applicants must apply on our Frontline System to JobID3043*link to applitrack)</p> <p>JOB CLASSIFICATION TITLE:</p> <p>Supervisor of Special Education</p> <p>DEPARTMENT:</p> <p>Special Education</p> <p>BARGAINING UNIT CLASSIFICATION:</p> <p>SAW</p> <p>REPORTS TO:</p> <p>Receives administrative direction from the Director of Special Education or other administrative official of a higher grade</p> <p>FLSA DESIGNATION:</p> <p>Exempt</p> <p>PART I - SUMMARY OF CLASSIFICATION</p> <p>This class is accountable for supervising and supporting teachers and related service staff who instruct and plan within the varied special education programs. This class also oversees and supervises one or more of Special Education programmatic areas.</p> <p>Guidelines for Class Use: The Supervisor of Special Education is responsible for providing staff leadership in the development and administration for the district special education programs and the student population.</p> <p>PART II - MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES</p> <p>A. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</p> <p>General Experience:</p> <ul> <li>A Master's degree in education or related field plus eighteen (18) semester hours of graduate credit and completion of fifty (50) school months of successful teaching or service employment as identified in State of Connecticut, Regulation of State Board of Education, Sec. 10-145d-574 (a - f). </li><li>Seven (7) years' experience in the field of special education or related services, including five (5) years' continuous experience as a special education teacher or related service provider in the past 10 years; </li></ul> <p>Special Requirement:</p> <ul> <li>In addition to the checking of references and of facts stated in the application, a thorough background investigation of each candidate may be made prior to appointment. </li></ul> <p>B. CREDENTIALS:</p> <p>C. LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Connecticut State Board of Education certification as an Intermediate Administrator/Supervisor (092) and endorsement in one of the following: 065, 165, 061, 070, or 071 will be required at time of appointment. </li><li>Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a current Motor Vehicle Class D Operator's License. </li></ul> <p>D. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Administrators in this job class must complete all State CEU requirements for re-certification. </li></ul>
