<p>New Heights Charter School is Massachusetts' only public school that involves all grades (6-12) in the Early College approach. Nearly all our 11th and 12th graders are full-time students on a college campus with younger students earning college credits at the school. You will join a committed, creative team of educators who provide academic and social-emotional support to young people coming from high-need backgrounds ensuring they are college and career ready. We support our staff with a wide array of professional development opportunities and coaching. As a member of the Academic Leadership Team, will take a lead role in the development and fine tuning of our curriculum, instructional protocols and procedures, observations and evaluations, school policies, and enrichment activities. At New Heights, we respect and honor all community members, their diverse backgrounds, knowledge, and experiences. Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer, the Associate Principal will assist the CAO and Principal in the overall administration of the educational programs by overseeing the implementation of a high-level, standards-based instructional program and learning environment from early high school to early college. The AP promotes close working relationships with college partners, teachers, staff, students, parents and keeps the CAO and Principal informed about emerging issues. We need a leader that is extremely inspiring and has a strong radar for excellence in all aspects of their work; desiring to address the big and small challenges that will make the largest impact. Furthermore, this leader is joyful, humble, open to feedback and nurturing to the needs of all they are leading. This leader is also confident and assured that they have the mentorship and support of their evaluator, the Chief Academic Officer (and School Principal). Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Serves as the conduit between New Heights and all college partners [Massasoit Community College, Bridgewater State University, Bristol Community College, Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology, etc.] </li><li>Takes the lead in effectively communicating with all college partners [Massasoit Community College, Bridgewater State University, Bristol Community College, etc.] about courses, schedules, students, and overall early college needs. </li><li>Assist the Principal and CAO in developing a schoolwide schedule that includes all required courses for early college and dual enrollment students. </li><li>Develops and monitors teacher schedules for all early college and dual enrollment courses and ensures that teachers are present to teach all classes assigned for teacher-led courses, College Companion Courses, Directed Study, and college courses. </li><li>Monitors and tracks staff attendances. </li><li>Supervises and provides employee improvement plans, when needed to address actions that do not adhere to schoolwide standards. </li><li>Ensures that all supplies students and staff need are communicated and provided in a timely manner, including books, vouchers, instructional materials, etc. </li></ul> <p>Instructional Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Assist the CAO in providing exemplary leadership to all school community members to achieve outstanding performance in preparing each student for college and maintaining high academic standards for students on the college campuses and taking college courses. </li><li>Assist the CAO in developing and communicating strategic school systems, culture, and vision, and building a plan to achieve that vision </li><li>Assist the CAO in leading all aspects of Data-Driven Instruction (DDI), Leading Professional Development (PD) and Observation & Feedback (OF) </li><li>Assist the CAO in implementing effective assessment systems and using data to inform decisions; curriculum development and assessment; and ensure consistency within the school program and alignment with state and other rigorous standards </li></ul> <p>Teacher Coaching & Evaluation</p> <ul> <li>Assist the CAO and Principal in providing school-wide leadership and the Executive Director in any directed district-related responsibilities </li><li>Conduct daily teacher observations and provide real-time feedback to move the needle on student achievement in conjunction with grade-level and/or instructional leaders </li><li>Coach instructional leaders in coaching and providing effective instructional observations and feedback to teachers. </li><li>Assist the CAO in leading faculty to ensure that all staff are providing well-managed and rigorous daily lessons in the College Companion Courses, reasonable and effective daily homework, completing assignments and deliverables for college courses, and productive academic support and after school tutoring, when needed. </li><li>Assist the CAO in holding teachers accountable for meeting a high bar for student performance including requirements for special education accommodations and IEP modifications in partnership with the Special Education Team </li><li>Support grade-level leads and instructional leads in creating and implementing effective observations and feedback to support instruction. </li><li>Be willing to Co-Teach or Lead at least one class, as it relates to Early College courses to model high quality instruction. </li></ul> <p>Cultural Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Assist the Principal and AP of Culturally Responsive Practices in building a joyful and rigorous school culture </li><li>Assist the Principal and AP of Culturally Responsive Practices in fostering consistency in academic and behavioral expectations </li><li>Assist the Principal and AP of Culturally Responsive Practices in collaborating with school staff to support students' academic and socio-emotional development </li><li>Ensure that traditions and rituals that support the school's early college mission are built and maintained, grade by grade, year to year </li><li>Support staff to ensure the effectiveness of after-school and campus enrichment programs </li><li>Support staff to ensure a positive, safe, and structured culture of high expectations </li><li>Assist the CAO and other instructional leaders in teaching staff members in appraising and assessing the performance of all students </li><li>Assist the CAO and the Whole Child Study Team in the coordination, delivery, and supervision of special education and student services </li><li>Assist in the supervision of students in the cafeteria(s), halls, bus area(s) and other locations where students congregate, when needed. </li><li>Make disciplinary judgments for students; assign detentions or other appropriate disciplinary measures, when appropriate. </li><li>When involved, keep accurate records of student disciplinary action and report the same to the principal </li><li>Communicate regularly with families, ensuring they are kept involved with and held accountable for their children's performance and correspond about school policies, trips, and events </li><li>Respond to family concerns promptly and effectively </li></ul>
