<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The ELA Instructional Coach provides district and building-level instructional leadership to advance high-quality English Language Arts instruction aligned to the Missouri Learning Standards, DESE accountability expectations, and MSIP 6 continuous improvement framework. This role builds teacher capacity through coaching, data analysis, professional learning, and curriculum support to improve literacy outcomes for all students.</p> <p>Reports to: Director of Literacy</p> <p>Supervises: As assigned</p> <p>Pay Grade: Administration Salary Schedule</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Provide job-embedded coaching through classroom modeling, co-teaching, observation, and feedback. </li><li>Support teachers in implementing evidence-based literacy and language instruction. </li><li>Assist with lesson planning, differentiated instruction, and classroom management aligned to ELA best practices. </li><li>Mentor new and novice teachers in ELA instruction and curriculum implementation </li><li>Support the implementation of the district ELA curriculum aligned with Missouri Learning Standards. </li><li>Assist with vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels. </li><li>Support curriculum mapping, pacing guides, and unit development. </li><li>Participate in the evaluation and selection of ELA instructional materials and digital resources. </li><li>Support teachers in using formative, summative, and diagnostic assessment data to guide instruction. </li><li>Analyze building and district ELA data to identify learning gaps and instructional needs. </li><li>Collaborate with MTSS teams to support literacy interventions and progress monitoring. </li><li>Assist with DESE reporting and compliance related to literacy accountability. </li><li>Design and facilitate professional development based on student and staff needs. </li><li>Support Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) through data analysis, lesson study, and instructional reflection. </li><li>Build teacher leadership capacity in literacy instruction. </li><li>Monitor consistency and fidelity of ELA instruction across classrooms and schools. </li><li>Support walkthroughs, feedback cycles, and instructional improvement plans. </li><li>Assist in program evaluation, instructional audits, and CSIP/SIP literacy goal implementation. </li><li>Provide documentation and reports necessary for MSIP 6 monitoring. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Proven Results: Demonstrated success in working with struggling readers and improving their reading skills. </li><li>Reading Instruction Knowledge: Strong understanding of how children learn to read and the ability to apply this knowledge in a classroom setting. </li><li>Curriculum Expertise: Experience with and knowledge of high-quality reading curriculum materials and strategies. </li></ul> <p>EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION</p> <ul> <li>Teaching Experience: Minimum of 3 years of effective experience as a certified ELA teacher. </li><li>At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred. </li><li>Bachelor degree preferred. </li><li>Citizenship, residency or work visa required </li></ul> <p>Physical demands</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
