With a focus on accessibility and safety, our team ensures a seamless parking experience on the campus. The Parking Services Operations Technology Specialist provides technical support for our parking management software systems. This includes, but is not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain, update and troubleshoot the parking management database and supporting software and hardware systems. </li><li>Implement operational platforms and software including working with vendors and consultants, testing system functionalities, suggesting improvements, and proposing solutions to meet user needs. </li><li>Perform hardware and software updates for parking enforcement-related technologies including license plate recognition cameras, body cameras, mobile devices, and portable printers. </li><li>Serve as point of contact for technology and as liaison with vendors and manufacturers. </li><li>Provide system implementation, maintenance, and user training. </li><li>Access and export data for review by university officials. </li></ul> <p>The incumbent will be required to work occasional evening and weekend hours to support special events. The incumbent may also be required to travel to satellite facilities occasionally.</p> <p>The incumbent also performs other duties as requested; takes initiative to support a healthy work environment; strives to fulfill the terms in the Standards of Business Conduct; exemplifies the Virginia Tech Principles of Community; and supports the university's motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve).</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in business, information technology, or related area, or an equivalent combination of formal training and experience. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, procedures, and guidelines related to database software applications. </li><li>Proficiency in general computer skills including use of Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. </li><li>Strong attention to detail. </li><li>Excellent organizational, interpersonal, business communication, and time management skills. </li><li>Ability to work independently and to act as resource for novice system users. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience using parking-related databases and systems, preferably experience with T2 systems </li><li>Experience providing technical support for license plate recognition (LPR) cameras, body cameras, mobile devices, and portable printers. </li><li>Experience integrating and synchronizing data across multiple databases (data integration). </li><li>Hands on experience with parking enforcement. </li><li>Experience in a university setting. </li></ul> <p>Pay Band</p> <p>4</p> <p>Overtime Status</p> <p>Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime</p> <p>Appointment Type</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>$60,000-$63,000</p> <p>Hours per week</p> <p>40</p> <p>Review Date</p> <p>January 5th, 2026</p> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check and driving check.</p> <p>About Virginia Tech</p> <p>Dedicated to its motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve), Virginia Tech pushes the boundaries of knowledge by taking a hands-on, transdisciplinary approach to preparing scholars to be leaders and problem-solvers.
