<p>Northwest Hardwoods, Inc</p> <p>Byron Center, MI</p> <p>Shipping Expeditor</p> <p>Shift: Days</p> <p>Pay Range: $23.50 to $25.50</p> <p>Key Responsibilities and Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Always maintain the highest standards with respect to safety, leading by example and ensuring team members follow all policies, procedures, practices and regulations. </li><li>Actively lead and participate in the plant safety program including implementing, and enforcing safety policies, procedures, practices and projects. </li><li>Ensuring accurate records of inventory, coordinating stock levels, and managing inventory counts. </li><li>Overseeing the timely and accurate shipment of goods, coordinating with transportation providers, and ensuring compliance with shipping regulations. </li><li>Inspecting outgoing shipments for accuracy, condition, and quality, and addressing any discrepancies. </li><li>Maintaining detailed records of shipments, and finished goods inventory levels, and generating reports for management. </li><li>Analyzes issues and develops solutions. Recommends and implements measures to improve methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. </li><li>Meets with management to discuss current issues, production goals, and quality control standards, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered. </li><li>Coordinate maintenance activities with the maintenance team. </li><li>Communicates company goals and policies to all team members and coaches them towards achievement of the goals. </li><li>Confers with other team members to discuss progress towards production and quality goals. </li><li>Participates in investigation and corrective action processes. </li><li>Assists with training new workers and ensure all members of the team follow company policies and safety regulations. </li><li>Manage and assist with auditing the quarterly grade out QC process. </li><li>All other duties as assigned. </li><li>Ability to stay late as required to continue loading trucks. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in logistics, warehouse management, or a related field is a plus. </li><li>Proven experience in shipping operations, preferably within the lumber or building materials industry. </li><li>Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite. </li><li>Must be able to drive a Hi-Low </li></ul> <p>Competencies:</p> <ul> <li>Must follow all established safety policies. Must have good safety record and a positive, can-do attitude. </li><li>Be adaptable, work where needed as required. </li><li>Willing to ask questions and work closely with Site Manager. </li><li>Must be able to work any shift -- overtime, weekends, holidays as required and in all conditions. </li><li>Capable of completing required documentation. </li><li>Able to work as a team, get along with team members; give and take advice and criticism from other team members. </li><li>Strong leader with examples of improving performance and cost savings. </li><li>Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. </li><li>Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. </li><li>Ability to take initiative on continuous improvement processes and find creative resolutions by identifying opportunities and boldly offering solutions. </li><li>Ability to effectively work, communicate, and coordinate activities within all levels of the organization. Excellent planning, organizing, prioritizing, time management and delegation skills. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>While performing the duties of this job, the team member is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. </li><li>The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. </li><li>While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. </li><li>The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. </li><li>This job may require the following equipment when in the field eye protection, hearing protection, leather/rubber gloves, safety shoes, sleeve protection, safety vest, and a hard hat. </li></ul>
