The COS Research Office is the nucleus of research administration and support, providing a full suite of pre- and post-award services to enhance the research, teaching, administrative, and outreach functions of the College. Key office responsibilities include proposal development and submission, portfolio management, effort reporting, and responding to departmental and faculty post-award and other research administration needs. Eligibility and Employer Sponsored Plans can be found within each of the links offered.</p> <p>Essential Job Duties</p> <p>The Research Accounting Technician supports post-award financial management for the College of Sciences, ensuring compliance with university, federal, and agency guidelines. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Research Administration, this role works closely with faculty to manage sponsored research transactions and grant-related accounting.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Initiate and reconcile financial transactions, including no-cost extensions, re-budgets, and salary adjustments. </li><li>Provide grant management support, including budget justifications and compliance navigation. </li><li>Monitor expenditures and ensure adherence to funding regulations. </li><li>Collaborate with faculty to facilitate efficient research administration. </li></ul> <p>This role is well-suited for someone familiar with grants and research administration who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. A strong service mindset, proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to balance independent work with team collaboration are essential for success.</p> <p>Other Responsibilities</p> <p>Serve as backup for other grant specialists</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Experience/Education</p> <p>High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Previous financial management experience and the ability to effectively manage budget and related financial matters </li><li>Knowledge of University Spending guidelines and research administration (pre and post-award). </li><li>Experience working with NIH and NSF-sponsored projects. </li><li>Smartsheets experience </li><li>Certified Research Administrator (CRA) </li></ul> <p>Required License or Certification</p> <p>N/A</p> <p>Valid NC Driver's License required No Commercial Driver's License Required?
