<p>8 HOURS/DAY</p> <p>Monday-Friday</p> <p>Pay Column G: $15.12/hour - Pay will be spread out over 12 months</p> <p>+Benefits</p> <p>Paraeducator - Affective Needs</p> <p>Purpose Statement</p> <p>The Affective Needs Paraeducator is responsible for providing support to students with emotional and behavioral challenges under the direction of a certified teacher. The role involves assisting in the implementation of educational and behavioral plans, fostering a safe and nurturing learning environment, and helping students develop the skills necessary to succeed academically and socially.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with affective needs. </li><li>Adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives. </li><li>Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, focusing on emotional health, safety, and academic achievement. </li><li>Implement behavior intervention plans designed to manage and improve student behavior. </li><li>Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to support the student's educational and emotional development. </li><li>Maintains classroom materials, equipment, and work areas for the purpose of maximizing student learning, provide a safe learning environment, and meet mandated requirements. </li><li>Model conversations, manners, active listening, organizational skills, and social behaviors for the purpose of aiding development of interpersonal skills and problem-solving strategies. </li><li>Monitor students individual and/or groups during assigned areas (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, library, lunchroom, bus, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. </li><li>Monitor and report on student progress, including academic performance and behavior. </li><li>Assist with daily living skills and social integration as needed. </li><li>Participate in professional development and training related to affective needs and behavior management. </li><li>Respond to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. students, teachers, administrators, and/or parents, etc.) for the purpose of solving problems, providing information and/or directing to other appropriate parties. </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Skills, Knowledge and Abilities</p> <p>SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include knowledge of behavior management techniques and educational strategies for students with emotional disturbances; instructional procedures and practices; age appropriate student activities; safety practices and procedures; conflict resolution; and stages of child development/ behavior.</p> <p>ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; working as part of a team; and working with constant interruptions.</p> <p>Responsibility</p> <p>Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's services.</p> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 60% walking, 30% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.</p> <p>Experience: Job related experience is desired.</p> <p>Education: High school diploma or equivalent.</p> <p>Required Testing</p> <p>Certificates and Licenses: None Specified</p> <p>First Aid Certificate preferred</p> <p>MANDT training</p> <p>Continuing Educ. / Training</p> <p>Clearances: Criminal Background Clearance</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non Exempt</p>
