<p>Job Summary:</p> <p>Provide classroom instruction in a variety of music courses including, but not limited to: music theory, music foundations, music and culture, applied music, and special topics in music. Develop a syllabus and assignments that meet course objectives; conference with students, maintain records on and evaluate student performance.</p> <p>Compensation:</p> <p>$1,150 per credit hour - Doctorate</p> <p>$1,050 Per credit hour - Master's</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree </li><li>Minimum of five years professional field related experience. </li><li>Previous successful college teaching experience </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Graduate degree in related field and minimum five years professional field related experience. </li><li>Previous successful college teaching. </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency in area of musical expertise. </li><li>Strong commitment to inclusivity and diversity, and ability to interact effectively with diverse cultures and ethnic groups. </li><li>Ability to network with community organizations and programs to develop partnerships for the benefit of students, faculty, and the university. </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills. </li></ul> <p>Other Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU's winter break, if necessary. </li><li>Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy. </li><li>Able to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, and weekends. </li><li>Able to teach classes at multiple locations on Oahu. </li><li>Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills. </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Develop syllabi in line with model syllabi, assigned textbooks, and department, college, and university policies (8%) </li><li>Prepare individual classes; maintain records of student progress and assign grades (72%) </li><li>Hold office hours and respond to student questions (1 hour/course) (12%) </li><li>Participate in training sessions (3%) </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned (5%) </li><li>Actively participates as an effective member of team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments. </li></ul> <p>This description is not designed to list all activities, duties or responsibilities which may be required for this job.
