<p>The District Resource Counselor supports school counselors across all grade levels (UTK-12) and plays a key role in advancing district-wide programs and services including supports for foster youth, military youth, unhoused families, social-emotional learning, graduation, Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE), and ADA/Section 504 compliance and consultation. This position involves frequent travel to school sites to collaborate with counselors on developing and implementing comprehensive, data-driven school counseling programs aligned with the ASCA domains (academic, college/career, and social-emotional development) and with priorities and goals identified at both the district and school-site levels. Typical responsibilities include co-planning, mentoring new counselors, modeling effective counseling practices, analyzing site-level data, and facilitating professional learning. The role also includes contributing to district-wide planning through interdepartmental collaboration.</p> <p>AB2534 As of January 1, 2025, in accordance with Education Code section 44939.5 (as amended by California AB2534) applicants for certificated positions are required by law to provide a complete list of every school district, county office of education, charter school and/or state special school with which you have previously been employed, regardless of the length of service. </p> <p>Please be aware that you may be required to provide this information through the screening process. An incomplete list of LEAs may result in the disqualification of your application.</p> <p> </p> <p>There are currently two (2) 11 month Head Counselor II positions open.</p> <p>Support the development and implementation of multi-tiered SEL and mental health strategies at school sites</p> <p>Assist with data analysis and outcome-based assessments to strengthen counseling programs</p> <p>Provide consultation on district policies, graduation requirements, modified diploma pathways, and partial credit practices</p> <p>Serve on the district-wide Emotional Crisis Response Team and respond to critical incidents</p> <p>Plan and deliver professional development and monthly counselor meetings; contribute to the department master calendar</p> <p>Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to coordinate student services</p> <p>Support TUPE implementation, including advisor training, program monitoring, and site-level prevention/intervention strategies</p> <p>Provide ADA/Section 504 training and compliance support, including consultation on accommodations and access</p> <p>Share best practices and guidance related to students in foster care, students experiencing homelessness, and military-connected and justice-impacted youth.Qualified applicants must have a valid Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential. </p> <p>Credential must be registered with the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing by the closing date of the application deadline. </p> <p>Minimum of four years of experience as a school counselor is required</p> <p>Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in a district setting</p> <p>Experience providing leadership or mentorship to school counselors or leading site-based or district-level initiatives is highly preferred</p> <p>Proven ability to facilitate professional development, lead meetings, and/or support adult learners in collaborative environments</p> <p>Experience supporting district-wide programs or initiatives, including collaboration across multiple school sites and departments</p> <p>Demonstrated ability to engage in reflective practices that promote collaboration, equity, and honest professional dialogue</p> <p>Preferred experience implementing Tier I research-based interventions that support social-emotional development and wellness</p> <p>Experience implementing multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) to address students' academic, social-emotional, and college/career development needs</p> <p>Experience supporting high school students in meeting graduation requirements, monitoring academic progress, and facilitating post-secondary and financial aid planning is highly preferred</p> <p>Understanding of the school counselor's role in advancing equitable access and dismantling systemic barriers within the school setting</p> <p>Ability to balance multiple priorities, manage complex tasks across various timelines, and adapt to shifting district or site-level needs</p> <p>Experience coordinating student-centered events that support transitions between grade levels (e.g., elementary to middle, middle to high school, high school to post-secondary)</p> <p> </p> <p>If you have questions about your application, please email jobs@sandi.net</p> <p>The San Diego Unified School District communicates information regarding the hiring process via email.
