<p>MARYVILLE COLLEGE</p> <p>STAFF POSITION DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Position Title: Assistant Part-Time Tennis Coach Department: Athletics</p> <p>Title of Immediate Supervisor/Leader to Whom This Position Reports: Head Coach</p> <ul> <li>Expected Daily Work Hours: Variable afternoons *Expected Weekly Work Schedule: Variable 5 days a week </li><li>College offices are normally open from 8:00 AM until 5:00PM, Monday through Friday. However, due to the nature of responsibility to the student body, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening or weekend hours. Non-exempt employees will normally work 8 hours per day. Overtime (any hours more than 40 per week) for non-exempt employees is required to be approved, in advance by the department supervisor. Exempt employees will typically work at least 40 hours per week and such additional time as may be reasonably required to fulfill the obligations of their position description. Such additional work may include evenings and weekends and should be described in this document. </li></ul> <p>Summary of this position:</p> <p>The Assistant Athletic Coach is to assist the Head Coach in all assigned and/or auxiliary duties in their respected sports program. This position is a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as defined by the Clery Act. Assist the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport. Assess player's skills, monitor players during competition and practice, and keep the head Coach informed of the athletic performance of the students.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications Required: (please be specific and respond to every question; indicate none if not applicable)</p> <p>Education required to ensure success in this position:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Experience required to ensure success in this position:</p> <ul> <li>Multiple years coaching at a racket club or High School/College </li></ul> <p>Special skills, knowledge, and abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to perform basic math. </li><li>Able to read and interpret documents, manuals, and instructions. </li><li>Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, and diagram form. </li><li>Exceptional written and oral communication skills. </li><li>Able to write routine reports and other correspondence. </li></ul> <p>License, certification, or registration necessary:</p> <ul> <li>A valid Tennessee Driver's License. </li><li>Once hired, must get certified to drive Maryville College vans </li></ul> <p>Physical requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds. </li><li>Specific vision requirements, such as close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. </li></ul> <p>Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:</p> <ul> <li>15 passenger vans </li></ul> <p>Primary duties and responsibilities</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Regular and predictable attendance is essential. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <ul> <li>Assists in the recruiting of all potential student athletes. </li><li>Complies fully with NCAA, Collegiate Conference of the South and Maryville College policies. </li><li>Establishes good rapport and generates respect among students, campus colleagues, and the local community by conducting oneself in an ethical manner. </li><li>Assists in the supervision, scheduling, and maintenance of facilities. </li><li>Attends all practices, meetings, and contests. </li><li>Assists in the organization and supervision of all off-campus trips. </li><li>Maintains office hours as assigned by the head coach. </li></ul> <p>Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty, and students.</p>
