This role is responsible forgreeting and directing patients, managing patient registration, verifying insurance information, scheduling appointments, and ensuring accurate data entry. The receptionist facilitates communication between patients, staff, and providers while maintaining patient confidentiality and delivering exceptional customer service.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Greets and registers patients, verifies demographic and insurance information </li><li>Schedules patient appointments and manages the appointment calendar </li><li>Answers incoming calls, directs calls to appropriate departments, and takes messages as needed </li><li>Collects patient payments, copays, and provides receipts </li><li>Assists patients with completing required paperwork and obtains necessary signatures </li><li>Verifies insurance benefits and obtains pre-authorization as required </li><li>Maintains confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines </li><li>Manages patient flow in the waiting area and communicates patient status to clinical staff </li><li>Maintains a clean and organized reception area </li><li>Performs general clerical duties including faxing, scanning, and data entry </li></ul> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations</p> <ul> <li>Excellent communication and customer service skills </li><li>Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities </li><li>Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EMR systems </li><li>Knowledge of insurance verification and basic medical terminology </li><li>Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality </li><li>Capable of lifting up to 20 lbs and performing repetitive tasks such as typing and data entry </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required </li></ul> <p>Licenses/Certifications</p> <ul> <li>None required </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>Previous experience in a medical office, physician practice, or hospital setting preferred </li><li>Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred </li></ul>
