<p>Job Description Summary</p> <p>Under general supervision of shop foreman or assistants, incumbent performs skilled craftsman level trades related duties in various types of heating / air conditioning and refrigeration work. Make routine repairs, answers trouble calls, analyzing problems and executes action necessary to correct mechanical/electrical problems; participate in outages when one or more employee is needed to complete a task. Repairs, maintains, and installs all associated refrigeration, cooling and air conditioning equipment for the hospital.</p> <p>Ensures that E.P.A. and other regulatory agency guidelines are followed. EPA Universal Certification required. Ensures there are no unauthorized gas leaks or releases. The incumbent will, on a rotating basis, be on call for one week and work a weekend scheduled shift. Incumbent should have a working knowledge of HVAC systems including, but not limited to, Chillers, AHU, Drives, Motors, Pumps, and Refrigeration Units. The incumbent will, on a rotating basis, be on call for one week and work a weekend scheduled shift. Incumbent is Considered Essential Personnel in a disaster.</p> <p>Inspects and operates refrigeration, cooling and air conditioning systems and equipment to ensure that all are functioning properly. Installs new equipment and systems and repairs and maintains current equipment and systems.</p> <p>Monitors and inspects work to ensure compliance with codes and regulations. Maintains and performs preventive maintenance inspection according to schedule. Documents maintenance, inspections and services performed.</p> <p>Assesses facilities risk for safety and informs management of potential risks. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>High School Diploma. Building Code, National Fire Code, Joint Commission Education, and (or) certification in a related field preferred. Also, refrigerant and CFC certification is preferred.</p> <p>Minimum Experience</p> <p>Plant equipment management and (or) related experience in a healthcare environment desirable. Must have five years of commercial HVAC equipment installations and systems operations experience.</p> <p>Must possess to ability to read and interpret business or safety manuals, clinical or technical procedures or regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence and/or manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, patients, other employees and medical staff.</p> <p>Must possess the ability to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply and divide) using numbers, money and units of measure.</p> <p>Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
