<p>NOTICE OF VACANCY</p> <p>Tiered Intervention Specialist</p> <p>SY 2025-2026</p> <p>Do you have a passion for supporting students and families? Montgomery County Schools in Virginia is now accepting applications for a Tiered Intervention Specialist (TIS) position that is available for the 2025-2026 school year. The TIS collaborates with schools to ensure the delivery of equitable, data-informed interventions that promote student well-being, reduce disciplinary disparities, and cultivate inclusive, supportive learning environments.</p> <p>PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>This position is instrumental in advancing the division's strategic goal of reducing disproportionality in student discipline and increasing positive academic and behavioral outcomes for all students. This role involves offering guidance and support to school administrators and school-based teams in implementing and enhancing the tiered interventions and support processes. The TIS also supports families by working to help remove barriers to student success.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND SKILLS:</p> <ul> <li>Assist teams in identifying barriers to success </li><li>Provide attendance and behavior data to assist teams in making informed decisions </li><li>Assist with developing attendance plans and reducing chronic absenteeism </li><li>Support the implementation of functional behavioral assessments and the development of behavior intervention plans </li><li>Promote a culture that emphasizes respect and sensitivity </li><li>Support and problem solve with building administrators around tiered systems of support </li><li>Coordinate with schools to develop transition plans </li><li>Provide direct services to students and classroom teachers to promote positive behaviors through mental health services and individual counseling </li><li>Collaborate with families to determine needed supports for students to help increase success at school </li><li>Collaborate with community partners to connect families with needed resources </li><li>Facilitate problem-solving and data-review meetings to guide data-informed decision-making and ensure implementation fidelity. </li><li>Promote integration of academic, behavioral, and mental health supports within a cohesive MTSS framework. </li><li>Guide and support the consistent implementation of PBIS frameworks across all school levels, ensuring alignment with district expectations. </li><li>Lead implementation of restorative practices, including restorative circles, peer mediation, and conflict resolution strategies. </li><li>Monitor and evaluate restorative outcomes, including reduction in exclusionary discipline and improved student relationships. </li><li>Analyze disaggregated student behavior and attendance data to identify trends and support equitable outcomes. </li><li>Participate in division-wide data reviews and contribute to the development of public-facing accountability tools. </li><li>Facilitate family education sessions to build understanding of PBIS, SEL, restorative practices, and student support systems. </li><li>Support implementation of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and the development of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) for students requiring intensive support. </li><li>Collaborate with building leaders to develop and monitor individualized re-entry and transition plans for students returning from suspension or alternative placements. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, special education social service related field, or educational related field </li><li>Three or more years of related experience </li><li>Knowledge in counseling and education services, including alcohol, other drugs, and violence prevention </li><li>Demonstrated expertise in PBIS, MTSS, SEL, restorative practices, and behavioral intervention </li><li>Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse stakeholder groups. </li><li>Knowledge and experience of social service sources in the community </li><li>Possess leadership ability and team building skills </li><li>Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to develop conceptual alternatives </li><li>Possess the ability to implement and incorporate existing protocol, practices and policies into the work environment </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Duties are performed in school settings and division offices with frequent travel between schools. </li></ul> <p>FLSA: Exempt</p> <p>SALARY: $52,966.53 - $83,120.04 annually, with benefits; commensurate with experience (current salary scale may change due to 2025-2026 budget considerations)</p> <p>BENEFITS:</p> <p>Anthem Medical Plans - Multiple options available for comprehensive medical and prescription coverage</p> <p>Ameritas Vision Plan - Coverage includes eye exams, lenses, frames, and contact lenses</p> <p>Delta Dental Plan - FREE Delta Dental coverage for employees, spouses, and families</p> <p>Carilion EAP - FREE Confidential Employee Assistance Program providing support for mental health, legal, financial concerns, and crisis support available to employees and their families</p> <p>Generous Employee Leave Benefits - MCPS offers leave benefits for PT and FT employees, including paid sick leave, personal leave, funeral leave, and annual leave.
