<p>The purpose of this position is to performs supervisory technical work in managing and directing activities and personnel of the Public Grounds and Parks Maintenance Division. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.</p> <p>The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.</p> <ul> <li>Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals. </li><li>Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed. </li><li>Develops schedules and maintains records; reviews and processes timesheets and schedules time off for assigned staff. </li><li>Inspects work in progress to ensure conformance with instructions. </li><li>Designs and drafts landscape plans. </li><li>Coordinates inventory; orders equipment and supplies; processes purchase orders. </li><li>Maintains time and material records. </li><li>Prepares simple work reports. </li><li>Performs related work as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. </li><li>Over four years and up to and including eight years of related experience. </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:</p> <ul> <li>South Carolina Non-Commercial Applicators License. </li><li>CPR/First Aid Certification. </li><li>Forklift Certification. </li><li>Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history. </li></ul>
