<p>Supervisory Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>The wellness team comprises full-time and part-time employees of Resort Management team, independent contractors, and vendors. </li><li>Help recruit, select, train, supervise, schedule, and manage a team of wellness professionals, fitness instructors, and sports coordinators. </li><li>Oversee scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure efficient operations. </li><li>Establish and uphold high service standards, ensuring consistency and excellence across all wellness and sports offerings. </li><li>Develop and monitor training and education opportunities for subordinates and encourage self-improvement. </li><li>Handles discipline and termination of subordinates under the HR Department and the company policy. </li></ul> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Daily Operations/ Scope of Position</p> <ul> <li>Ensure that the department operates according to all applicable local, state, and federal laws, including ensuring that all required professional licenses and liability insurance are active and on file. </li><li>Plan, develop, and implement policies, procedures, and training programs within the facility. </li><li>Assist in the development of the budget for the department and create strategies to adhere to the annual budget. </li><li>Attends regular Department Head meetings and conveys all relevant information to staff and vendors as needed. </li><li>Be visibly present in the Fitness Center & Gymnasium during peak periods of the day. </li><li>Ensure complete coverage of the department staff by managing and approving vacation and travel schedules. </li><li>Create a work environment that promotes positivity, teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction, while creating a culture of excellence, enabling staff and vendors to provide superior service to members and guests. </li><li>Provides outstanding service to our members and their guests professionally and courteously. </li><li>Oversees the maintenance of all equipment in the facility. </li><li>Provides strong leadership and a valued work ethic for facility staff, vendors, members, and guests. </li><li>Maintain a close working relationship with other club professionals. </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Wellness & Fitness Programming:</p> <ul> <li>Implement/ program the department's marketing strategy to optimize profit and increase guest traffic. </li><li>Attend and participate in monthly Wellness Program meetings for specific events. </li><li>Implement ongoing promotions to stimulate sales of products and services while maintaining a substantial menu of services to retain and grow our customer base consistently. </li><li>Monitor and evaluate the club's product offerings, including equipment, personnel, and services, recommending additions and/or discontinuations of products and services. </li><li>Develop and oversee a diverse range of wellness programs, including fitness classes, sports programs, and holistic health initiatives. </li><li>Manage a robust fitness center schedule, ensuring a balanced mix of indoor group exercise, outdoor lawn activities, and aqua fitness classes. </li><li>Stay informed on industry trends to introduce innovative wellness experiences that enhance member engagement. </li></ul> <p>Sports & Recreation Oversight:</p> <ul> <li>Direct and enhance athletic programming, socials, clinics, leagues, and tournaments. </li><li>Develop engaging programs to encourage social connections and active participation. </li><li>Ensure proper maintenance and upkeep of all sports facilities, including courts and equipment. </li></ul> <p>Member Engagement & Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Greet members and guests to the Wellness Center, overseeing the coordination of all member and guest requests and issues/complaints in a professional, courteous, and timely manner. </li><li>Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where members feel supported in their wellness and recreational pursuits. </li><li>Develop special events, themed fitness challenges, and community-driven wellness initiatives to foster engagement. </li><li>Maintain an up-to-date calendar of events for the current and upcoming seasons. </li><li>Assist members in using the online scheduling software. </li><li>Collaborate with the National Director of Wellness to promote wellness and athletic offerings, highlighting their benefits to members. </li></ul> <p>Administrative Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. </li><li>Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. </li><li>Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. </li><li>Oversee the flow of information that members receive via reservation software and mass e-mails. </li><li>Edit all mass communications (electronic and traditional) for consistency, content, and tone. </li><li>Provide a monthly report detailing current programming. </li><li>Troubleshoot with outsourced IT companies to quickly fix and maintain online booking sites, e-mail accounts, wellness computers, and booking display screens. </li><li>Coordinate with the Food and Beverage Manager to ensure that all aspects (food and beverage, set-up, etc.) are correctly coordinated with events. </li><li>Complete and submit payroll and submit all vendor check requests to the Resort Manager for approval and processing. </li><li>Handle monthly billing for the department and payment of the staff and vendors for their sales commission. </li><li>Ensure all department equipment and supplies are stocked & and well-maintained including computer hardware/software, office supplies, and fitness equipment). </li><li>Order and maintain adequate levels of inventory effectively by conducting monthly inventory and developing procedures for accurate inventory control and monitoring. </li><li>Inspect and maintain cleanliness, organization, safety, and repair throughout the facility. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Operating systems such as a POS (Book-4-Time/ Jonas Club Software). </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s). </li></ul> <p>Required Skills/Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Excellent organizational and time management skills. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with members in an appropriate tone and manner both verbally and written. </li><li>Possess high energy, initiative, enthusiasm, and cooperation, and exercise good judgment and discretion. </li><li>Comfort with public speaking, ability to use critical thinking skills, and conflict resolution strategies. </li><li>Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift to 50 lbs., up to 30 lbs. frequently. </li><li>Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, lifting, and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. </li><li>Proven ability to lead a team in a collegial environment. </li></ul> <p>Educational and Experience Requirements</p> <ul> <li>CPR and First Aid Certifications required, or willingness to become certified within the first 90 days. </li><li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Minimum three (3) years of related leadership experience with direct Fitness Center oversight, preferably in a luxury resort or club environment. </li><li>Must possess strong leadership, management, and motivational skills with the ability to interact with associates at all levels within and outside the company. </li><li>Must have a thorough knowledge of fitness, and group fitness programming, and be willing to train in our specific service offerings. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Personal Training certification from a nationally recognized organization. </li><li>College education - Bachelor's degree. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Works indoors and outdoors. If proper safety procedures are not followed, there is potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals, and/or solvents. </li></ul> <p>This job description does not imply that the above are the only responsibilities assigned to this position.
