The Senior accountant will maintain financial records and ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded. Analyzes current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred. Prepare and analyze complex balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. This position is considered advanced enough in accounting skills that their work and judgment is exercised independently. The Senior Accountant demonstrates strong communication, training and overall relationships with the finance team and department heads.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:</p> <ul> <li>Manage, develop, and administer team members' performance against company goals; </li><li>Works independently and makes independent accounting decisions with minimal supervision; </li><li>Prepare consolidated internal and external financial statements by analyzing information from the general ledger system and department heads; </li><li>Perform analytics and verify financial information; </li><li>Prepare general ledger entries with supporting analytics. </li><li>Perform account reconciliations; </li><li>Review and approve staff accountant account reconciliations; </li><li>During audit, act as lead for compilation of audit request; </li><li>Analyze current procedures and recommend changes to develop and implement best practice accounting procedures; </li><li>Provide accounting support by reviewing financial information; obtain supplemental support for preparing financial statements; </li><li>Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, continued education, participating in professional organizations, etc.; </li><li>Perform all other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>This role requires at least 7-10 years of previous experience, preferably with experience in retail or grocery retail role. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, strategic, solutions-focused leader with the following attributes:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred; </li><li>7-10 years of accounting experience; </li><li>Strict attention to detail, highly organized and efficient; </li><li>Demonstrate an exceptional standard of quality involving accuracy, attention to detail, organization, and self-review skills; </li><li>Thoughtful analysis and problem-solving, effective collaborating skills, and accountability for excellent results; </li><li>Thorough understanding of US GAAP, advanced level of understanding of: balance sheet, profit and loss statement and cash flow statements; </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills; </li><li>Strong computer skills and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; </li><li>Knowledge of ERP accounting system. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK CONDITIONS:</p> <p>The physical demands and work conditions below represent those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
