<p>Location: Oak Ridge, TN</p> <p>Job Title: Electrical Engineer Power Systems</p> <p>Career Level From: Associate</p> <p>Career Level To: Senior Specialist</p> <p>Organization: Development Operations (51424712)</p> <p>Job Specialty: Core Engineering</p> <p>What You'll Do</p> <ul> <li>Interpret applicable laws, regulations, standards, and orders as they apply to electrical codes and practices </li><li>Implement policies and procedures to ensure that these codes and practices are in compliance with appropriate statutes and regulations </li><li>Evaluate electrical systems and instrumentation with a focus on designing for or upgrading to Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) certification and compliance with the National Electric Code (NEC) and other applicable electrical codes </li><li>Evaluate the acceptability of custom-built hardware as well as commercial off-the-shelf components </li><li>Perform power distribution system design including load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, arc flash analysis, system safety, and human safety </li><li>Perform load calculations for sizing electrical components, cables, conduit, and equipment spacing </li><li>Specify electrical system components including distribution panels, transformers, disconnects, and drives for low and medium voltage AC and DC systems </li><li>Develop interfaces to facility equipment using hardwired interfaces and industrial networks </li><li>Apply NEC (typically includes systems running up to 1,000 volts), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC - typically includes systems running greater than 1,000 volts), NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace), and other applicable codes in developing power distribution solutions </li><li>Assist with identifying sources of and isolation guidance for ground faults, and determine acceptable resolution to return equipment to service </li><li>Determine and implement measures with the goal of ensuring protection of co-workers from electrical shock and arc flash hazards </li><li>May develop and implement programs designed to increase employee awareness and knowledge of electrical safety policies </li><li>Conveys pertinent electrical safety information and guidance to laboratory management and personnel promoting electrical safety excellence </li></ul> <p>What You Can Expect</p> <ul> <li>Meaningful work and unique opportunities to support missions vital to national and global security </li><li>Top-notch, dedicated colleagues </li><li>Generous pay and benefits with a stable organization </li><li>Career advancement and professional development programs </li><li>Work-life balance fostered through flexible work options and wellness initiatives </li></ul> <p>Minimum Job Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA OR a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA OR a PhD in Electrical Engineering with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA. </li><li>There is a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement up to 4 years post-graduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript. Part 712), which requires successful competition of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation and may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.</p> <p>This position may be categorized as a "designated position" identified by 10 C.F.R.
