<p>POSITION SUMMARY: he Head Boys Basketball Coach serves as the head varsity coach and supervises the sub-varsity coaches and teams at Southeastern. The Head Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for building a culture of respect and inclusion for all coaches, players, and their families. JOB GOALS: Support Southeastern Regional High School's academic progress. Strive for program excellence and competitive teams. Instill the desire to excel through preparation and hard work. Produce a program that is a positive image for the community. Encourage broad participation among the student body, faculty, staff, and community. Help to develop student-athletes into responsible citizens. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Adhere to and communicate district, school and MIAA philosophies and policies as outlined in the district Employee and Student hand books, as well as the MIAA handbook. Possess and demonstrate an understanding of the inner workings of the sport that they are coaching. Share knowledge of the sport with assistant coaches and team. Ensure that assistant coaches are equipped to succeed by supporting them in every possible manner. Instill teamwork, respect for others, team spirit and develop a sense of responsibility through athletics Conduct themselves in a highly professional and ethical manner at all times. Attend all team related activities such as: practices, games, award ceremonies, professional development, and Athletic Expectations nights. ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: Monitor and encourage educational and behavioral progress of student athletes. Maintain and communicate roster changes to the department and the athletic trainer on a regular basis. Participate in the creation of schedules, including "senior nights", and fall "pink nights". Encourage and support athletes participating in other sports. Be present and visible in locker room areas before and after practices and games. Regularly inspect practice/ game facilities and locker areas, and report needs and /or recommendations. Attend preseason and postseason meetings with the Athletic Department and be available for midseason meetings upon request. Plan and attend preseason meetings with team members and be available for post season discussions as warranted. Attend all pre/post season league meetings. Complete school and league end of the season reports in a timely manner: includes but is not limited to All Scholastic Nominations, League All Star Nominations, and additional league awards. Distribute, care for and collect all team uniforms and equipment as well as maintain and organize team storage spaces. Operate in a fiscally responsible way. TRANSPORTATION Travel to and from scheduled athletic events in the transportation furnished by Southeastern Regional, unless other previous arrangements are allowed by the AD. Ensure that all members of the team travel to and from scheduled athletic events in the transportation furnished by Southeastern Regional, unless other previous arrangements are allowed by the AD. Supervise the loading and unloading of athletes and equipment onto/from buses for away contests and/or practices. Help supervise the loading of the daily late buses based on when your practice ends. Practices which end before 4 will supervise the 4 and those that end after 4 will supervise the 6. Ensure that every athlete is either on the late bus or safely on their way home before leaving campus. COMMUNICATION Report issues to AD in an appropriate and timely manner. Report all injuries to the Athletic Trainer. Report game results to all appropriate local media and in school social media managers. Ensure open communication between coaches and families by utilizing a platform which enables immediate communication with families such as SportsYou. Make weekly posts to keep families informed and up-to-date with all items pertaining to your team. Perform such other related duties as may be assigned. SKILLS REQUIRED: A working knowledge of the overall operation of an interscholastic athletic program. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. A commitment to receive your MIAA Coaches Education Certification before or during your first season. CPR certification from the American Red Cross or equivalent. Ability to adhere to the performance responsibilities listed below.</p>
