<p>Position Information: The Junior Programmer is a full-time position within the Information Technology Department. This role assists in the development, maintenance, and support of business applications and databases that serve multiple City departments. The individual will participate in software development, data integration, system troubleshooting, and user support efforts, ensuring timely and accurate data processing for internal stakeholders.</p> <p>General Duties:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Develop and maintain applications and system components using .NET technologies (e.g., C#, ASP.NET, Blazor).</p> </li><li> <p>Support SQL Server databases, including development of T-SQL queries and stored procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the design, testing, deployment, and documentation of custom and vendor software solutions.</p> </li><li> <p>Build and maintain reports and data extracts using tools such as SSRS or Power BI.</p> </li><li> <p>Gather requirements and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with internal users and other IT staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).</p> </li><li> <p>Respond to technical support tickets and service requests related to applications and databases.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform application upgrades and maintenance, including performance tuning.</p> </li><li> <p>Document changes, maintain development standards, and contribute to system documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in system integration efforts and special projects as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>May provide user training on applications and reporting tools.</p> </li></ul> <p>Supervised By: Receives direction from the Director of Information Technology and/or Senior Programmer.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Proficiency in C# and .NET (Web Forms, ASP.NET, .NET Core, and/or Blazor).</p> </li><li> <p>Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including writing T-SQL queries and stored procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with reporting tools such as SSRS or Power BI.</p> </li><li> <p>Understanding of Entity Framework or similar data access frameworks.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of software version control systems (e.g., GitHub).</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with RESTful Web API development is a plus.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to write clear and concise technical documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.</p> </li><li> <p>Willingness to learn new development tools and technologies.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of three (3) years of experience in application development and database administration using Microsoft technologies.</p> </li><li> <p>Equivalent experience may be substituted for formal education at the City's discretion.</p> </li></ul> <p>License or Certificate: Relevant technical certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, MCSA) are desirable but not required.</p> <p>Pay Rate: NMEA, Grade 18</p> <p>The above is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities.
