If Restricted Position, please paste statement Departmental Objective</p> <p>Facilities Management is responsible for maintaining campus buildings utilizing the carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC trades as well as housekeeping and floor maintenance.</p> <p>Purpose of the Position</p> <p>Supervises, schedules, and assigns work to the HVAC Installation and Repair Technicians, HVAC Installation and Repair Assistants, and Plumbers. Monitors time and attendance. Approve or reject leave. As a working supervisor, performs repairs, alterations, renovations, and new installations for building HVAC & Plumbing systems and their associated components. Prepares material and labor cost data for renovation projects. Assist the Director and Assistant Director in budget control. Works with outside contractors on contract work to inspect and give guidance on the university's specifications. Acts as project manager/contract administrator on all HVAC & Plumbing projects for in-house projects and work performed by contractors. Reviews and approves all project manuals [specifications] for HVAC and plumbing projects. Provides supervision for a group of HVAC and plumbing personnel. Writes scopes of work. This is a designated position and reports as directed during emergency closings.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of methods, practices, and materials used in HVAC maintenance & building control systems and plumbing systems </li><li>Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems to maintain HVAC systems throughout campus and the ability to teach this knowledge to other HVAC personnel under supervision </li><li>Ability to check & adjust systems remotely using an energy management system </li><li>Ability to maintain adequate records, time sheets, leave forms, refrigerant logs, etc. </li><li>Ability to supervise personnel </li><li>Good oral & written communication skills </li><li>Ability to follow and enforce OSHA and VOSH safety regulations </li></ul> <p>Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>High school graduate or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma </li><li>Valid VA driver's license </li><li>Training in HVAC field </li><li>Active Journeyman HVAC Mechanical license </li><li>EPA Universal Refrigerant recovery certification </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>HVAC experience on commercial systems </li><li>Experience with energy management/building automation system controls and software </li></ul> <p>Additional Consideration(s)</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Active Master HVAC Mechanical license </li><li>Active Journeyman or Master Plumbing license </li><li>Building Automation System (BAS)/energy management system vendor certifications </li></ul> <p>Experience :</p> <ul> <li>Experience working in a lead or supervisor position. </li><li>Experience in higher education or government organizations </li><li>Experience with work order systems for tracking data on shop productivity and costs </li><li>Experience with Virginia's procurement system and regulations (eVA) </li></ul> <p>Salary Information Starting at $68,534, Commensurate with Education and Experience CNU Information</p> <p>This position includes Commonwealth of Virginia and Christopher Newport University employee benefits.
