<p>Camp MacLean in Burlington, Wisconsin offers campers and guests year-round amazing experiences! Responsible for providing meals, our Food Service Kitchen Staff's primary function is to ensure each member, guest and visitor receives the highest caliber of service!</p> <p>The Cook will support the kitchen staff in food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a smooth operation in the kitchen. The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of meals in accordance with established recipes and standards. This role requires a passion for food, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.</p> <p>Salary range is $15.00-$20.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience</p> <p>Our staff is the Y's greatest asset. Our teams provide valuable skills, knowledge, and passion that is essential to the contribution and positive impact in our communities, which is why we offer Y employees numerous perks and benefits, including:</p> <ul> <li>Competitive salaries reflecting your skills and experience. </li><li>Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance for eligible employees, plus wellness programs, mental health resources, and a family gym membership. </li><li>Generous PTO and paid holidays, with flexible work hours for work-life balance. </li><li>403(b) plan with company contributions for eligible employees after 2 years of service. </li><li>Continuous learning opportunities through workshops and training programs. </li><li>Supportive work environment valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion. </li><li>Discounts on programs, employee assistance programs, and company-sponsored events. </li></ul> <p>Scope of Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met. </li><li>Set up and maintain workstations with all necessary ingredients and cooking equipment. </li><li>Monitor food quality and freshness, adjusting cooking methods as needed.Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines. </li><li>Assist in inventory management, including checking stock levels and placing orders when necessary. </li><li>Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service. </li><li>Handle and store food items properly to minimize waste and ensure safety. </li><li>Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe kitchen environment. </li><li>Support Food Service Manager and other kitchen staff with meal preparation and special requests as needed. </li><li>Participate in kitchen clean up and maintenance tasks, including sweeping and mopping floors. </li><li>Assist in packaging and serving food items during mealtimes. </li><li>Positively interacts with program participants and other team members to create a respectful, warm, supportive environment. </li><li>Participate in all mandatory training sessions and in-service workshops to enhance skills and knowledge, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and best practices. </li><li>Participates in team meetings and other special events. </li><li>Support other departments as needed. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Required Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Must be 18 years or older </li><li>Must have high school diploma or equivalent work/education experience </li><li>Must have minimum 1 year of work experience in food service industry - previous experience as a cook preferred but not required </li><li>Strong communication, oral and written skills and a team-oriented mindset </li><li>Be able to have and maintain positive relationships with all customers from point of contact </li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions </li><li>Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods </li><li>Commitment to and passion for the YMCA of Metro Chicago's mission is required including a passion for working with diverse communities </li><li>Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations and schedules </li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work as part of a team </li><li>Meets physical qualifications required as outlined in job description.
