<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Michiana Christian Academy, a private, K-8 Christian school in South Bend, IN, is seeking a passionate and qualified Full-Time 1st Grade Teacher for the upcoming school year. This position offers a unique opportunity to teach in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment with the benefit of small class sizes and paraprofessional support.</p> <p>The ideal candidate will hold an Early Literacy Endorsement, have experience with the Science of Reading (SoR), and demonstrate a deep commitment to cultivating both the minds and hearts of young learners.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction in all core subject areas, with a strong emphasis on early literacy. </li><li>Implement Science of Reading-aligned strategies and structured literacy practices in daily instruction. </li><li>Collaborate with a classroom paraprofessional to differentiate instruction and provide targeted student support. </li><li>Create a safe, joyful, and Christ-centered classroom culture that reflects the mission and values of the school. </li><li>Assess student learning regularly using both formative and summative assessments to inform instruction. </li><li>Maintain open and consistent communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities. </li><li>Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school-wide events. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field </li><li>Valid Indiana teaching credential with Early Literacy Endorsement </li><li>Experience teaching early elementary, preferably 1st grade </li><li>Training or demonstrated experience in Science of Reading (SoR) implementation </li><li>Strong classroom management and instructional skills </li><li>Personal commitment to Christian faith and the integration of faith into teaching </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administration, and support staff </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in a private or Christian school setting </li><li>Familiarity with structured literacy programs </li><li>Passion for building foundational skills in young readers </li><li>Passion for strong collaboration with all staff members </li></ul> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Supportive Christian school community </li><li>Small class sizes (maximum of 18 students per classroom) </li><li>Daily paraprofessional assistance </li><li>Opportunities for professional and spiritual growth </li><li>Competitive private school salary </li><li>Monthly $100 stipend to offset cost of health insurance purchased through marketplace. </li><li>Paid time off </li></ul>
