<p>AVL Specialist</p> <p>Full-time Position Posted 5/06/2025</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>Responsible for the design, operation, and distribution of audio, video, and lighting systems for internal and external events; builds trust with clients through effective communication and event preparation; contributes to team development with ideas, experience, and training. Additionally helps provide operating support for AVL Services Dept. Helps support positive interdepartmental communication by providing organization, effective communication, and multitasking; is detail-oriented and a team player.</p> <p>Role Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Strong ability to create good will with staff, faculty, students, and the community; servant attitude. </li><li>Organized, detail-oriented; ability to multi-task and be a team player. </li><li>Willingness to work an irregular schedule, be frequently on call, and be available to set up and manage AVL equipment for all events as needed. Work hours must conform to the needs of special events. </li><li>Commitment to the Articles of Faith, Mission, and Objectives of the University, and desires to be a role model for students by demonstrating an active Christian faith in personal example and in work-related interactions and responsibilities. </li></ul> <p>Position Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Sets goals and objectives and accomplishes them without need for frequent follow-up. </li><li>Maintains daily, weekly, monthly, and annual tasks in support of the AVL services department. </li><li>Designs, set up, and operate audio, video, and lighting systems in various venues on the JBU campus, including, but not limited to, the Cathedral, Berry Performing Arts Center, Bill George Arena, J. Alvin Atrium, Amphitheatre, Simmons Great Hall, Walker Student Center, and various conference rooms. </li><li>Provides audio, video, lighting, and audio/video recording services for JBU events, including but not limited to chapel, concerts, student activities, Homecoming, Family Weekend, Admissions events, Alumni events, and technical rehearsals for these events. </li><li>Provides audio, video, lighting, and audio/video recording services for JBU-hosted events, including, but not limited to, community groups, weddings, funerals, summer camps, and conferences. </li><li>Provides audio, video, lighting, and audio/video recording services for academic events, including, but not limited to, drama productions, recitals, and worship ministries classes requiring AVL services. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of audio design and reinforcement including stage set-ups, operation of an audio board, basic audio theories, and running sound equipment in a worship environment. Yamaha digital console used on campus. </li><li>Knowledge of video production including operation of a camera, video switching, video system setups, and basic video theories and techniques. Black Magic Design switching, routing and cameras used on campus. </li><li>Knowledge of lighting for various stages including theatre, concerts, worship, and presentations, as well as setup, design, aiming, and controlling lights during live events using both standard and intelligent lights. ETC EOS lighting control software used on campus. </li></ul> <p>Preferred skills and experience:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with both audio recording and video recording. </li><li>Ability to analyze audio, video, and lighting equipment functions and troubleshoot problems in high pressure situations. </li><li>Experience with production and post-production software, including Adobe Creative Cloud and Renewed Vision ProPresenter. </li><li>Communicates effectively with staff and students and delegates tasks appropriately. </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or minimum 3 years of experience in audio, video, and lighting production systems </li></ul> <p>Physical demands and work environment:</p> <ul> <li>Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; stand; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
