<p>Dorchester County Public Schools is currently accepting applications for an Athletic Trainer. Under the supervision of the Athletic Director and Supervisor of Athletics, the Athletic Trainer will work closely with coaches and students in reviewing the medical condition of student athletes and provide programs that promote the prevention of athletic injuries. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for analyzing and diagnosing athletes' injuries, designing customized nutrition and exercise plans, and building rehabilitation and training programs to help student athletes recover from injuries.</p> <p>DUTIES:</p> <ul> <li>Establishes and maintains medical files for each student involved in interscholastic athletics including but not limited to injury, treatment, rehabilitation, communication. </li><li>Determines the successfulness of rehabilitation programs and adapts as necessary. </li><li>Administers proper athletic training techniques (i.e., wrapping and taping) prior to games and practices to decrease risk of injury as well as determine when an injured athlete has been rehabilitated to the extent that such techniques are no longer necessary. </li><li>Assists the coaching staff and athletic director in determining when an injured athlete can safely return to participation and competition. </li><li>Assists the coaching staff in establishing conditioning exercises and programs to promote, perform, and reduce the likeliness of injury. </li><li>Develops and maintains school supply budgets (first aid only). </li><li>Supervises, equips, and maintains an athletic training room at its optimal usefulness. </li><li>Equips, maintains, and provides first aid kits and safety equipment at athletic events or appropriate school functions. </li><li>Provides coverage for weekend athletic practices and events, as requested. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. </li><li>A minimum of two (2) years job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. </li><li>National Athletic Trainers Association Certification required. </li><li>State Licensure required. </li><li>CPR certification required. </li><li>First-Aid certification required. </li><li>Must be available during non-traditional hours including, but not limited to, work flexible day/night schedules and weekends to cover practices and evening scheduled events. </li><li>Effective communication skills for accurate, concise, and organized verbal and written communication. </li><li>Good interpersonal skills and ability to build professional relationships with staff, coaches, players, and community partners. </li><li>Ability to work effectively as a team member. </li><li>Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills. </li><li>Excellent problem-solving skills. </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to exceptional professionalism, confidentiality, and service. </li></ul> <p>SALARY: Salary based on the Negotiated Agreement Between the Board of Education of Dorchester County and The Dorchester Educators - Education Support Personnel Unit I Tech Support II (8.0-hour duty day) salary scale: I. This is a twelve (12) month, eight (8) hours a day, full-time position with benefits. The current minimum salary is: $45,422.</p> <p>Please note: Effective July 1, 2026, this position will become an 11-month position.</p> <p>Salary based on the Negotiated Agreement Between the Board of Education of Dorchester County and The Dorchester Educators - Education Support Personnel Unit I Tech Support II (7.0-hour duty day) salary scale: Y. This is an eleven (11) month, eight (8) hours a day, full-time position with benefits. The 11-month minimum salary is: $43,884.</p>
