Supervises aids in direct student care and related activities as needed.</p> <p>TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This description of the position of Physical Therapy Assistant is for identification and administrative purposes only. It is not intended to be a complete statement of all duties, which may be assigned or adjusted by the Superintendent of Schools according to varying needs.</p> <ul> <li>Provide physical therapy treatments according to the physical therapists' treatment plan. </li><li>Communicate with supervisor and other members interdisciplinary team members regarding student progress, problems, or plans. </li><li>Record daily treatment notes, portions of monthly progress notes, and discharge summaries timely and completely. </li><li>Maintain student records confidentially. 5. Record treatment charges daily in accurate and timely manner. </li><li>Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols. </li><li>Maintain work area, exam rooms and supplies. </li><li>Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct. </li><li>Adhere to employer work practices as described in BOE policies. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. </li><li>Current Connecticut State Physical Therapist Assistant License Certification/Licensure. </li><li>One year as a Physical Therapy Assistant or comparable internship. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required. </li><li>Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care service. </li><li>Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. </li><li>Available in July for required training </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of physical therapy assistant principles and practices. </li><li>Working knowledge of computer programs. </li><li>Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively. </li><li>Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing. </li><li>Bilingual, English and Spanish. </li><li>Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance. </li></ul> <p>New London Public School District is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.</p> <p>Candidates from diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply.</p>
