Embrace the chance to join our team, and you'll not only reap a fulfilling career but also sow the seeds for a healthier, stronger New York.</p> <p>Position Information:</p> <p>The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking an Office Assistant 2 to support the Local Food Purchase Assistance (LFPA) program within the Division of Agricultural Development in Albany, NY. As an Office Assistant 2, you are pivotal in ensuring the efficient processing and management of program claims. Your responsibilities include receiving and conducting an initial review of claims for accuracy and completeness, ensuring that all required expense documentation is included. Once verified, you forward the complete claims package to the program managers for further review.</p> <p>In addition to claims processing, the Office Assistant 2 is tasked with reviewing the contract budget and having a solid understanding of the program's allowable activities and expenditures. You would also serve as a key point of contact for awardees and provide essential assistance by answering questions related to claims submission. You would maintain an organized claim tracking spreadsheet, recording the claim's progress as it moves through various levels of approval. The Office Assistant 2 will process contract extensions and modifications within the State Financial System.</p> <p>This position is designated as temporary and will last for a duration of 12 months. It offers 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with a pay rate of $20.42/hour.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive qualifications: One year of clerical experience.</p> <p>Additional Comments Pay and Benefits:</p> <p>This is a PEF-represented position that offers excellent benefits! Benefits include but are not limited to inexpensive Health Insurance options, free Dental and Vision coverage, NYS Pension Plan membership, and generous paid time off. Within the year, you are eligible for 5 days of personal time, 13 vacation days, 13 sick days, and 13 paid holidays!</p> <p>As a New York State employee, you could potentially qualify to participate in the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF)!
