<p>JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>Provides patient/resident care activities under the direction of Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse. Assists patient/residents with activities of daily living, provides for personal care, comfort and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for patient/residents.</p> <p>Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:</p> <ul> <li>High school graduate or GED preferred. </li><li>Completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant program OR be listed as having passed CNA competency testing on the Iowa Direct Care Worker registry preferred. May be certified as a medic or Combat Lifesaver (through military duty) or have EMS certification as a base provider. </li><li>Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required. New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date. </li><li>Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. </li><li>High degree of empathetic listening, tact and kindness toward others. </li><li>Effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills required. </li><li>Must work effectively as a member of a team. </li><li>Previous acute or long-term care experience preferred. </li><li>Technical and critical thinking skills required to perform duties. </li><li>Basic computer knowledge. </li></ul>
