<p>Job Title: Ophthalmic TechnicianJob Description</p> <p>As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will perform specialized testing procedures specific to the ophthalmology specialty. You will conduct preliminary screening examinations for physician review and determine the method of testing by reviewing the patient's chart, condition, and physician's notes. Additionally, you will set up, operate, and maintain equipment necessary for conducting tests and procedures. Assisting patients with transfers and maintaining equipment quality control checks are also key aspects of this role.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform specialized testing procedures appropriate to the ophthalmology specialty. </li><li>Conduct preliminary screening examinations for physician review. </li><li>Review patient charts, conditions, and physician notes to plan and determine testing methods. </li><li>Position patients appropriately for tests and procedures. </li><li>Set up, operate, and maintain equipment for tests and procedures. </li><li>Assist patients with transfers to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, and exam tables. </li><li>Report equipment problems and liaise with repair personnel. </li><li>Maintain quality control checks and log service records. </li><li>Order and maintain inventory of supplies and dispose of inventory per department protocol. </li><li>Perform additional functions related to clinical activities. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>3+ years of experience in optometry, ophthalmology, or glaucoma. </li><li>Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT). </li><li>Experience with Epic Systems. </li><li>Manual refraction experience. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school graduate. </li><li>Certification is preferred. </li><li>Experience is required. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>You will work in a very large and busy office located in New Haven. The schedule is generally between 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM, with the main hours being 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
