<p>Job Summary</p> <p>Assist the Corporate Director of Medical Imaging with clinical, administrative, fiscal management of the assigned Imaging Department. Provide direct patient care, as needed. Provide personnel development.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide consistent input to the Corporate Director of Medical Imaging on the quality of care provided by the department. </li><li>Assume authority and responsibility for decision making and problem solving for the department on a daily basis. Seek guidance from the Corporate Director as needed. </li><li>Responsible for interviewing, staffing, scheduling, discipline, and evaluation of department personnel, including terminations. </li><li>Monitor and review the quality of care provided by the department in collaboration with Radiologists and staff. </li><li>Act as a resource for clinical skills and patient care for staff. </li><li>Develop and prepare department specific policies/procedures in conjunction with the Imaging QM Coordinator. </li><li>Coordinate education of imaging students (Radiology and Nuclear Medicine) with Clinical Instructors. </li><li>Assist the Quality Mgmt Coordinator in the preparation/maintenance of department Quality Improvement initiatives and reports. </li><li>Assist the Corporate Director in assuring the accrediting body requirements of the department are met. </li><li>Represent the department during regulatory inspections. </li><li>Verify the competency of specific clinical skills of the assigned staff. </li><li>Collaborate with Lead Technologists to coordinate department orientation programs for new staff members and those with special needs. </li><li>Identify educational needs of the department staff and provide continuing education, inservice on new policies, clinical skill procedures, and equipment or coordinate with appropriate personnel. </li><li>Assist the Director of Imaging Services in fiscal resource management for the department. Provide input on budget needs for department supplies, equipment, and capital. </li><li>Assist designated personnel with maintenance of employee records related to pay, schedules, and benefits. </li><li>Coordinate special projects. </li><li>Prepare various reports, maintain inservice/education records, and prepare meeting minutes. </li><li>Maintain ongoing communication with the department staff and physicians in assuring quality patient care and customer satisfaction. </li><li>Maintain communication with patient's family and visitors in the event of problems with their encounter. </li><li>Monitor radiation exposure to employees and patients. </li><li>Ensure the maintenance of equipment to operating standards. </li><li>Serve as a resource for Quadris, PACS, and CR Information Systems. </li><li>Counsel and evaluate personnel, address grievances, and make recommendations for transfer, promotions, and terminations. </li><li>Assist with patient procedures and assume the role of staff/team leader as necessary. Serve as a resource for complex procedures. </li><li>Responsible for oversight of the quality team. </li><li>Responsible for oversight of the Nighthawk process. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</p> <p>Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact)</p> <p>The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.
