<p>ALBANY COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT ONE</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION: High School Head Track Coach</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <ul> <li>The High School Head Track Coach is responsible for providing instruction and coaching to students as a means of developing track skills and contributing to all student athlete success in the classroom. The Head Track Coach is further responsible for directly supervising all assigned personnel along with ensuring and encouraging sportsmanlike conduct amongst all students and staff. </li></ul> <p>CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>The High School Head Track Coach:</p> <ul> <li>Uses a variety of coaching techniques and methods along with media to meet the needs of student athletes and the track program as a means of improving the abilities of student athletes in the assigned sport. </li><li>Manages and supervises all high school track activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship. </li><li>Works with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure overall educational development of student athletes. </li><li>Ensures that all track coaches work together toward a common goal of success within the track program and provide system unity with all lower-level track programs within the District. </li><li>Establishes performance criteria for competition and evaluates student athletic abilities on an initial and regular basis. </li><li>Ensures all necessary precautions and safeguards are in place to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities. </li><li>Monitors and enforces student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation. </li><li>Works with the Principal and other coaches to schedule competitions and coordinate appropriate arrangements. </li><li>Assists in the development and coordination of a continuing system of evaluations of all coaches within the track program and makes changes based on findings and the ongoing needs of the track program. </li><li>Accompanies and supervises student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports when traveling to compete. </li><li>Maintains a regular system of files containing all material relevant to the track program including eligibility forms, transfer forms, grade reports, and ensures that all ACSD#1 District policies are followed. </li><li>Applies and enforces student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips of school property in accordance with ACSD#1 policies and the student handbook. </li><li>Encourages sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation. </li><li>Establishes and maintains open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers. </li><li>Maintains inventory of all fixed assets of the track program. </li><li>Oversees process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all program athletic equipment. </li><li>Annually establishes and meets performance goals. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>(The tasks listed under the heading of Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities are examples of the variety and general nature of duties performed by employees in positions allocated to the classification. This specification should not be interpreted to describe all the duties which may be assigned to an employee at this level, nor should persons assigned be expected to necessarily perform all the duties described.)</p> <p>SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to use effective communication skills; robust knowledge of the sport of track including strategy, rules, and coaching; ability to use time effectively; good organizational skills; ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors); knowledge of physiological, psychological, emotional and educational behavioral development of children and/or adolescents; ability to lead meetings; and ability to help coaches achieve consensus. </li></ul> <p>ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Mandatory: Candidate must hold, or be eligible to hold, a Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) endorsement as a Head Track Coach.</p> <p>Preferred: 1+ years of experience as a track coach.</p> <p>Valid Wyoming teaching certification</p> <p>PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ul> <li>The Physical Abilities and Working Conditions listed in this section are representative of but are not intended to provide an exhaustive list of Physical Abilities and Working Conditions which may be required for this position. Albany County School District #1 encourages persons with disabilities who are interested in employment for this position and need reasonable accommodation of those disabilities to contact the Chief Human Resources Officer for further information. </li><li>Vision: (which may be corrected) to read small print; view a computer screen for prolonged periods. </li><li>Hearing: (which may be corrected) to answer telephones and tolerate exposure to noisy conditions. </li><li>Speech: to be understood in face-to-face communications; to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone. </li><li>Upper Body Mobility: use hands and fingers to feel, grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at the wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower the head. </li><li>Strength: to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 40 or more pounds on a frequent basis. </li><li>Environmental Requirements: encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work outdoors and indoors. </li><li>Mental Requirements: read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile, and coordinate information and records. </li><li>Additional Work Conditions and Physical Abilities: Requires travel to multiple sites. </li></ul> <p>EVALUATION</p> <ul> <li>Evaluation of this position shall be by the Principal. </li></ul>
