<p>Job Description:</p> <p>PART TIME ART TEACHER</p> <p>St. Theresa Catholic School, Trumbull, CT</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>OVERVIEW:</p> <p>Under the direction of the school principal, the classroom art teacher is responsible for supporting the school and the Diocese of Bridgeport in its mission. He/she is to facilitate student success and growth in understanding the history of art, using the different techniques and mediums when creating art, preparing lessons that complement the liturgical year, developing students' own personal artistic style and instilling a curiosity and love of art. Documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.are also part of the job responsibilities. Educators are engaged in a school conducted by the Roman Catholic Church for the express purpose of education in the academic, social, moral and religious values promulgated by the Church.</p> <p>Classes in art are taught on Mondays and Fridays for students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade so flexibility in the instruction is needed to engage the different learning levels.</p> <p>Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.</p> <p>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of fostering lay leadership in the Catholic Church. </li><li>Good communications skills including written, verbal, public speaking and presentation skills. </li><li>Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter and be well-organized; must be a team player. </li><li>Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. </li><li>Professional, clean and neat personal appearance. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Love and appreciation of beauty particularly in art </li><li>Enjoy working with children </li><li>Demonstrates creativity and organization </li><li>Background in art education or professional experience in the field </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Practicing Roman Catholic, in good standing </li><li>Bachelor's Degree </li><li>Demonstrated experience teaching in a Catholic School </li><li>Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level </li></ul> <p>Physical/Mental Requirements:</p> <p>Requires coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal office and school building environments.</p> <p>Required Activities:</p> <p>Walking, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, keyboarding, etc.</p> <p>Travel Requirements:</p> <p>Travels to school building and professional meetings as required.</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Please complete CT Reap application and submit your cover letter, resume and 3 current letters of recommendation to blogsdail@stesonline.org.</p>
