<p>Job Objective- Helps by providing excellent customer service to visitors, volunteers, and co-workers; perform extensive office work.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinates the office operations of the department; maintains office forms and procedures; assists with administrative tasks involving personnel and facilities. </li><li>Responsible for performing routine secretarial and administrative work in answering phones, receiving the public, processing animal intake and disposition into the shelter's software program. </li><li>Prepares and maintains employee payroll and other personnel records for the department and files all documents in appropriate order and place. Composes, types, and edits correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other material as required. </li><li>Acts as custodian of departmental documents and records. Establishes and maintains filing system, controls records and indexes using moderate independent judgment. </li><li>Processes payments and purchase orders. </li><li>Provides custodial maintenance and cleaning of the front office. </li><li>Answers central telephone system. Receives the public and answers questions; responds to inquiries from employees, citizens and others and refers, when necessary, to appropriate people. </li><li>Process adoptions, intakes, reclaims, licenses, and renewals, and any other required administrative duties; Operates standard office machines and computer desktop and laptop equipment. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned and/or required. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements and preferences listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required and/or preferred. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school or GED. Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position. SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED Intermediate: Must be able to type correspondence, develop excel spreadsheets and learn new software quickly. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES The following physical activities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the functions of this job, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.</p> <p>Special Requirements</p> <p>Additional Skills • Ability to learn Animal Care and Control Ordinance. • Must be able to occasionally work evenings and weekends, and maintain flexibility for last minute schedule changes, if necessary. • Ability to effectively communicate on a one-on-one basis with others. • Ability to maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with other employees, department officials and the public. • Ability to report to work each scheduled day, and on time.</p> <p>Miscellaneous Information</p> <p>All positions with the City of Sherwood are subject to a pre-employment background check. Some positions are subject to pre-employment and random drug screening. All positions are subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening. All full-time employees are required to participate in the City of Sherwood 457(b) Retirement Plan, and contribute 3% of their base salary. The city contributes 6% and matches up to 4%!
