<p>Class Definition</p> <p>Justice Long is currently accepting applications for the position of Chambers Law Clerk commencing on September 8, 2026 (the beginning of the 2026-2027 Court term) and ending September 3, 2027. Justice Long welcomes and encourages candidates with diverse backgrounds and employment experience, before and after law school, to submit materials for her consideration. Interested candidates should apply as early as possible. Initial interviews will be conducted via WebEx or Teams.</p> <p>Chambers Law Clerks provide critically important legal and administrative support to Justice Long. They conduct legal research; draft and review memoranda, orders, and opinions; and assist with other projects and tasks as assigned. This is a full-time position located in Providence, R.I. Prior trial court internship or clerkship experience is preferred but not required. Successful candidates must exhibit the highest standards of excellence and integrity; display, always and to all persons, a courteous, professional, and cooperative attitude; and observe strict confidentiality requirements.</p> <p>Salary: $70,725 with six-month raise to $74,367.</p> <p>Benefits: Health, Dental, and Vision Plan; Pension.</p> <p>Required Qualifications for Appointment</p> <p>Applications must include:</p> <ul> <li>A cover letter </li><li>A current résumé </li><li>Two writing samples (at least one must not be heavily edited by a third party) </li><li>A copy of your official law school transcript (incomplete, unofficial transcripts may be submitted and later supplemented by complete, official transcripts when available) </li><li>Three official letters of recommendation, at least two from individuals who are familiar with your analytic abilities, character, and writing samples. </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>It is preferred, though not required, that all application materials be sent in one mailing or e-mailed, with the exception of letters of recommendation, which may be sent directly by recommenders.
