Full Time Shift Day Work Schedule Summary VP Area U of U Health - Academics Department 00196 - Health & Kinesiology Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range $50,000-65,000 DOE Close Date 02/16/2026 Priority Review Date (Note - Posting may close at any time) Job Summary</p> <p>Clinical Research Coordinator: Level I - III</p> <p>The Neuromechanics and Applied Locomotion Laboratory at the University of Utah is hiring a Clinical Research Coordinator to assist with on-going funded research examining balance and mobility, particularly in people with mild traumatic brain injuries (i.e., concussions). The candidate will have the opportunity to work on several federally-funded and foundation-funded projects with Dr. Peter Fino and collaborators. The candidate will interact on a regular basis with volunteer research subjects, physical therapists, engineers, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and other faculty from various groups across campus, including Neurology, Physical Therapy & Athletic Training, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and Psychology, and with research teams at other institutions across the country.</p> <p>The ideal applicant should have exceptional organizational and project management skills, interpersonal skills, experience in clinical settings, a grasp of biomechanics, anatomy, and rehabilitation, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills. A Master's degree in athletic training, kinesiology, biomechanics, engineering, sport science, physical therapy, or another health science field is preferred, but exceptional candidates with a BS in one of the above fields and significant research and / or clinical experience will be considered.</p> <p>This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccination requirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the first day of work. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Clinical Research Coordinator: Level I - III</p> <ul> <li>Oversees compliance to protocol; manages quality control, completion and submission of study related documentation; prepares reports for organizations and agencies. </li><li>Monitors enrollment goals and initiates strategies to promote enrollment and participant compliance. Coordinates and performs responsibilities related to research participants including determining subject population availability, developing informed consents and screening materials, screening and recruiting subjects, scheduling visits, obtaining informed consent, answering subject inquiries, collecting participant data, overseeing study visits and acting as a point-of-contact between participants and study-related parties. </li><li>Recognizes, tracks and reports adverse events and protocol deviations. </li><li>Prepares for and coordinates site visits made by sponsors or federal agencies during course and at the close of the study. </li><li>Represents the research program at meetings, national and international research consortia. </li><li>Prepares, submits and maintains IRB, NIH, DOD, and/or other regulatory documents and research correspondence. </li><li>Supervises, mentors and trains new or junior research staff. </li><li>Coordinates with referring physicians to provide information regarding available research projects and to maintain a strong referral basis. </li><li>Develops and maintains participant and study databases. </li><li>Coordinates protocols with collaborators at other institutions. </li><li>Assists the Principal Investigator and research team in the development of study protocols, study design, and preparation of research projects </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).</p> <p>Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:</p> <p>Clinical Research Coordinator (Non-R.N.), I: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.</p> <p>Clinical Research Coordinator (Non-R.N.), II: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.</p> <p>Clinical Research Coordinator (Non-R.N.), III: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.</p> <p>Preferences</p> <ul> <li>A BS in a relevant discipline, such as Kinesiology, biomechanics, athletic training, physical therapy, engineering, or health science related field </li><li>Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required. </li><li>Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess the following preferred qualities: </li><li>Experience conducting human subject research and interacting with participants with impaired balance, mobility or neuromuscular control </li><li>Experience working with and managing large participant databases such as REDCap </li><li>Ability to excel in both team and individual environments </li><li>Strong communication skills, both written and verbal </li><li>Familiarity with biomechanical instrumentation including force plates, motion capture cameras, inertial measurement units, and electromyography </li></ul> <p>Type Benefited Staff Special Instructions Summary Additional Information</p> <p>The University of Utah values candidates who have experience working in settings with students from diverse backgrounds and possess a strong commitment to improving access to higher education for historically underrepresented students.</p> <p>Individuals from historically underrepresented groups, such as minorities, women, qualified persons with disabilities and protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
