<p>Position Title:</p> <p>Professor of Supply Chain Management and Pioneer Chair</p> <p>Appointment Type:</p> <p>Faculty</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>The Department of Supply Chain Management in the Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University welcomes applications for the position of Professor of Supply Chain Management and Pioneer Chair. Primary responsibilities include research and teaching in SCM at the undergraduate, master's, and Ph.D. levels. The appointee is expected to have an internationally recognized research record in top supply chain management journals, such as those in the SCM Journal List (http://www.scmlist.com/). Additionally, the appointee will pursue continuing research and scholarship, and provide expertise, innovation, and leadership regarding food or agricultural issues in supply chain management.</p> <p>Successful applicants will be expected to have and maintain an outstanding research program in food- or agriculture-related topics targeting leading journals in supply chain management. The applicant is also expected to demonstrate strong teaching abilities. Communicating effectively with prospective and current students, industry personnel, and the wider community is essential to this position. The expected start date for this position is August 2026.</p> <p>The chair professor position offers competitive compensation and research funding. Iowa State University provides generous healthcare and retirement benefits that rank among the best globally.</p> <p>Required Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Applicants must be a full professor (or equivalent) or be clearly qualified for promotion to full professor by Iowa State University standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in business administration, with a concentration in supply chain management, transportation, logistics, operations management, or a related specialization.</p> </li><li> <p>Candidates must meet the college's standards to be Scholarly Academic qualified under AACSB standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Clear evidence of strong research potential in food- or agriculture-related topics in supply chain management.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Very strong research record in food- or agriculture-related topics in supply chain management, evidenced by publications in leading peer-reviewed supply chain management journals (i.e., SCM List).</p> </li><li> <p>A pipeline of manuscripts in the review process at leading peer-reviewed supply chain management journals (i.e., SCM List).</p> </li><li> <p>Work experience with professional responsibilities related to supply chain management.</p> </li><li> <p>Work or academic experience related to agriculture or food industries.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to work across disciplinary boundaries, especially those relevant to food or agriculture.</p> </li><li> <p>Proven academic leadership, including experience mentoring junior faculty and training and placing Ph.D. students, potentially securing research funding, and contributing to the strategic development of supply chain management programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Sustained record of excellence in teaching and the ability to teach a variety of SCM courses at undergraduate, master's, and Ph.D. levels.</p> </li></ul> <p>Department/Program & College Description</p> <p>The Department of Supply Chain Management is composed of twelve tenured and tenure-track faculty members and four term faculty members. Our department enjoys a strong reputation for faculty research and student focus. We are consistently ranked among the top 10 in the world for empirical supply chain management research. We offer nationally ranked undergraduate and graduate supply chain management programs. The department houses a robust industry-oriented Supply Chain Forum offering research opportunities with notable company partners in different industries.
