URI is just 30 minutes from Providence, RI and within easy reach of Newport, Boston, and New York City.</p> <p>_<strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>____</strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></p> <p>BASIC FUNCTION:</p> <p>Provide Mental Health support to students through individual and group counseling, develop and present structured groups for growth, manage intake, triage, urgent care/crisis systems, and consultation regarding community referrals. Assist and support students in accessing services from community resources for outpatient mental health care and provide care management for students needing multiple services across campus.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Participate as part of the clinical team, managing intake, triage, urgent care/crisis systems, and consultation regarding community referrals. This may include remote services via teletherapy using applications such as Zoom and Webex.</p> <p>Assist and support students in accessing services from community resources for outpatient mental health care, including scheduling phone appointments, meeting with students, overcoming barriers to accessing community resources, and providing care management.</p> <p>Develop and implement systems for follow-up with students referring to community resources (e.g., psychotherapists, psychiatrists, clinics, intensive outpatient treatment programs). Ensure clients are appropriately assessed, successfully referred, and compliant with treatment recommendations.</p> <p>Assess/analyze insurance benefits and financial resources available for mental health treatment for identified students/clients, advocating for low-cost services when needed.</p> <p>Assist students hospitalized for mental illness in transitioning back to campus by aiding in discharge planning, coordinating follow-up care, and facilitating access to appropriate services on- and off-campus.</p> <p>Collaborate with counseling staff in treatment and disposition planning for students with complex mental health needs, particularly frequent users of urgent care appointments.</p> <p>Consult with parents, faculty, school administrators, student development staff, and other campus personnel to ensure quality care for students.</p> <p>Maintain appropriate records and documentation of care management activities in compliance with law, ethics, and best practices.</p> <p>Cultivate strong liaison relationships with off-campus mental health providers, private practitioners, hospitals, inpatient units, and other community partners. Create Memorandums of Understanding with community providers.</p> <p>Attend and participate in Health Services all-staff and clinical meetings, Counseling Center meetings once/month, committee meetings, and other staff meetings and training activities as appropriate.</p> <p>Offer specialized support to students dealing with eating disorders and interpersonal violence through individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and coordination of community referrals.</p> <p>Speak confidently and knowledgeably to students, faculty, staff, and administrators about counseling care options.</p> <p>Assess the causes and seriousness of a broad range of problems presented by students experiencing psychological and psycho-social difficulties. Develop plans to assist students in dealing with these difficulties and recommend changes to university practices and policies.</p> <p>Assist severely troubled students needing psychiatric consultation, medication, hospitalization, and/or management of life-threatening situations.</p> <p>OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Perform other duties as required.</p> <p>LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:</p> <p>Current licensure within the State of Rhode Island as either LMHC or LICSW. Electronic Health Record.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>REQUIRED:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or a social work-related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated professional experience in a counseling position in a college counseling center or similar agency.</p> </li><li> <p>Current licensure within the State of Rhode Island as either LMHC or LICSW.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated thorough knowledge of and ability to apply counseling principles, practices, and techniques to student problems and developmental needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated knowledge of individual emotional and behavior patterns and social/economic factors contributing to student concerns.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to initiate creative development programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated supervisory experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience with an Electronic Health Record.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>PREFERRED:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Demonstrated experience in case management and crisis intervention.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience with the supervision of graduate trainees.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience in a counseling center in a higher education setting.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated knowledge of and prior communication with community mental health resources in RI.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience working with medically complex patients.</p> </li></ol> <p><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>____</strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></p> <p>The University of Rhode Island is an equal-opportunity employer committed to the principles of affirmative action.
